To our Beloved Muslim Interreligious Dialogue Partners in the Philippines.
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh!
On behalf of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission for Interreligious Dialogue (CBCP-ECID), we extend our fraternal greetings as you celebrate Eid al-Adha, the “Feast of Sacrifice.”
We are one with you in celebrating “Eid’l Adha,” or “Feast of the sacrifice” which honours Prophet Ibrahim’s absolute willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to Allah. It reminds Muslims to willingly let go of worldly attachments, desires and material wealth for a higher purpose.

In a very special way, we are keeping you in our prayers that the values of selflessness and moral integrity may pave the way for a truly peaceful, orderly, and credible parliamentary election in the
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Let us stand together to reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, solidarity, and the common good. Lasting peace is not simply the absence of conflict; it is the presence of justice, mutual respect, and active cooperation. To build this foundation, we must champion inclusive development. Growth is only meaningful when it reaches everyone. We must ensure that our progress lifts up the vulnerable, empowers the marginalized, and leaves no one behind. When we work for the common good, we protect the dignity of every individual and safeguard our shared home for future generations.
May Allah accept your sacrifices, answer your prayers, and bless your home with peace. Happiness and prosperity as you celebrate Eid’l Adha!

In Solidarity and Peace,

BP. JOSE COLIN BAGAFORO, DD

Pentecost is a major Christian feast celebrated 50 days after Easter. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, as described in the Book of Acts, and is often regarded as the “birthday of the Church.”

Common traditions include special church services, prayers, hymns about the Holy Spirit, and in some cultures the use of red vestments or decorations symbolizing fire and the Spirit.

The significance of Pentecost in Christianity is very important because it marks the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and followers of Jesus after His Ascension. It is often called the “Birthday of the Church.”

Here are the main significances of Pentecost:

1.Coming of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles in the form of tongues of fire, giving them courage, wisdom, and strength to preach the Gospel.

2.Beginning of the Church’s Mission

After Pentecost, the apostles began spreading the teachings of Jesus to different nations and people.

3.Unity Among People

People from many countries understood the apostles speaking in their own languages, showing that God’s message is for everyone.

4.Fulfillment of Jesus’ Promise

Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to guide and help His disciples Pentecost fulfilled this promise.

5.Renewal of Faith

Pentecost reminds Christians to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in daily life.

In the Catholic Church, Pentecost is celebrated with joy, prayer, and the color red, symbolizing the fire of the Holy Spirit.
