“Prayer is PAKIGLAMBIGIT, PAKIGTAGBO, PAKIGHIMAMAT, ug PAKIG-UBAN with God in love. When we learn to listen in silence and through one another, we encounter God personally in love.”

Tonight, we come together not simply to watch a creative presentation, but to listen to the dreams that have emerged from our journey together as the Church of Marawi.

During these days of our Pastoral Assembly, we have looked back at our story. It is a story marked by smallness and vulnerability, by displacement and painful experiences, but also by courage, friendship, faith, and hope. We have listened to one another and asked ourselves: What kind of Church are we being called to become? What kind of Prelature do we dream of for the years ahead?

Tonight, we give these dreams a voice.

Through songs, words, movements, and creative expressions, may we recognize that our dreams are not only about programs, structures, or buildings. We dream of a Church that listens and walks together; a Church close to its people; a Church that remains a reconciling presence among our Muslim brothers and sisters through the Dialogue of Life and Faith.

Our dreams may be many, but they lead us toward one hope: that the Prelature of Marawi will continue to become a humble and courageous witness of reconciliation and peace.

So tonight, may we watch not only with our eyes, but listen with our hearts.

The Dream Phase: DAMGO

Today, we allowed ourselves to dream not simply about what we want for the Prelature of Marawi, but about what God may be inviting us to become and to do together.

Our facilitators accompanied the delegates into the Dream Phase, inviting us to look beyond our present realities and imagine the Church we hope to become in the years ahead.

Through our final Spiritual Conversations, we gathered once more in small groups. We listened to one another and shared our personal and collective damgo for our local Church—dreams born from our experiences, our wounds, our hopes, and our love for the people entrusted to us.

For a small and vulnerable Church like ours, to dream is itself an act of hope. We dream of becoming a Church that listens and walks together, welcomes and accompanies, heals wounds, builds friendships, and remains a faithful witness of reconciliation and peace.

Our damgo now becomes a question and an invitation:

Lord, what are You calling us to become—and what are You asking us to do together?

Recalling the wisdom and legacy of Bishop Bienvenido “Tatay Bido” Tudtud, Ms. Venus reminded the delegates:

“Sa pakigdayalogo, dili kinahanglan nga kita ang modaug sa istorya. Makigdayalogo kita aron atong maamgohan ang kaanindot nga anaa sa atong igsoong Muslim.”

In dialogue, we do not need to win the conversation. We enter into dialogue so that we may discover and appreciate the goodness and beauty present in our Muslim brothers and sisters.

“WE ARE ALL MAGKAUBAN IN THIS JOURNEY.”

We began our Prelature Pastoral Assembly gathered around the table of the Eucharist, with Bishop Edwin A. dela Peña, MSP, DD presiding over our first Mass.

In his homily, Bishop Edwin reminded us of a simple but meaningful word: MAGKAUBAN.

We are together in this journey not walking alone, but accompanying one another as companions and pilgrims of hope, especially as we live the spirit of our Jubilee.

He also invited us to remain attentive to the Holy Spirit throughout this Assembly. We may be a small local Church, with our own limitations and struggles, but the Spirit continues to work among us in many and often surprising ways.

As we begin these days of listening, sharing, prayer, and discernment, may we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us.

Magkauban kita. We journey together. And we journey in hope.

A meaningful day centered on prayer, listening, and orientation for the spiritual conversation. This opens the hearts of the delegates to God and to one another as we journey together in faith in the next 2 days of the Pastoral Assembly.

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel G. Dumadag and Miss Venus B. Guibune, Seminary formators of St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City facilitate this Pastoral Assembly.

WELCOME, DEAR DELEGATES!

With grateful hearts, we welcome the delegates arriving at Immaculate Conception Parish, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, for the Prelature Pastoral Assembly of the Prelature of Marawi, happening this September 17–19, 2026.

Our delegates come from San Isidro Labrador Parish–Balabagan, Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish–Malabang, Immaculate Conception Parish–SND, Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish–Maria Cristina, San Vicente Ferrer Quasi-Parish–Balo-i, and the Blessed Virgin Mary Chaplaincy–MSU Marawi.

For these three days, we come together not simply for meetings and discussions, but to listen - to one another, to the realities of our local communities, and most especially to where the Holy Spirit is leading our local Church.

May these days deepen our communion, renew our commitment to mission, and help us discern together how we can better serve our people with faith, compassion, and hope.

Welcome, everyone!
