🕊️ Devotional: Living as God’s Child — 1 John 3 🕊️

📖 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” — 1 John 3:1

✨ Reflection:

1 John chapter 3 is a powerful reminder of our identity in Christ. It begins with a beautiful declaration — we are God’s children, not because of what we've done, but because of the lavish love the Father has poured out on us.

But being His child isn’t just a title — it’s a calling. We are called to live differently: to walk in purity, to turn away from sin, and most importantly, to love one another deeply.

John reminds us that love is the evidence of God's presence in us. “Whoever does not love remains in death.” (v.14) These are strong words, but they urge us to check our hearts — are we living with love, or just living?

🧠 Lesson to Apply:

This chapter hits me hard: am I just wearing the name "Christian," or am I living like God’s child?

It's easy to say we love, but harder to show it — especially when it's inconvenient or when people are difficult. But 1 John 3:18 challenges us:
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

So today, I want to:

✅ Choose to forgive, even when it’s not asked.
✅ Show kindness, especially when it’s undeserved.
✅ Live with integrity, because I carry my Father’s name.

❤️ Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me Your child. Help me to live like it — to love as You love, to walk in purity, and to reflect You in all I do. Change my heart, Lord. Let my life be proof of Your love. Amen.

💬 Lesson: You’re not meant to blend in—you’re meant to stand out for God.
✅ Apply it: Let your life point others to Jesus, not to yourself.

⚖️ 3. IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT RULES
📌 Matthew 5:17–20
Jesus didn’t cancel the Law—He fulfilled it. He takes the standards even deeper: to the heart level.

💬 Lesson: Religion changes behavior. Jesus changes hearts.
✅ Apply it: Don’t just “do good”—be good from the inside out.

🧠 4. LEVEL-UP OBEDIENCE: IT STARTS IN THE HEART
📌 Matthew 5:21–48
Jesus teaches:

💢 Anger is like murder

🔥 Lust is like adultery

💔 Forgiveness is a must

💘 Love your enemies, too

💬 Lesson: God isn’t after perfect actions—He’s after sincere hearts.
✅ Apply it: Clean your heart, not just your image. Choose love, even when it’s hard.

🎯 CONCLUSION: Kingdom Living Is Radical
Jesus calls us to live differently. In a world that values fame, revenge, and pride—He teaches humility, purity, mercy, and love.

Leviticus 19:10

God teaches us to be gracious by asking that we share our blessings with those in need. God gives us more than enough so that we may provide for those who are unable to provide for themselves physically and spiritually. We help others spiritually by being there for troubling times or encouraging them to reach new milestones. Our time is such a blessing to our friends and family.

Dear God, we are thankful for each new day. Teach us to make time for others when they need a friend. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

JOSHUA 7:23

Achan took goods from Jericho retained for the Lord's treasury, and the Israelites placed his stolen treasure on display. His private sin was now public. We follow closely behind our Lord and Savior as we walk the path of righteousness and are still led astray by sin; we become surrounded by temptation, and our sinful nature often prevails. Many sins can be confessed to the Lord in private, while others remain displayed for all to see. We understand in our embarrassment that a genuine confession is forgiven as promised, and we will continue forward on our journey with Christ.

Dear Lord, we are embarrassed when our sins are exposed. Please forgive us for our sins and set out feet back on the path to eternal life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
