HISTORY:
San Isidro Labrador Parish (SILP) is located in Kadingilan, southwest of Bukidnon. “Kadingilan” is a manobo term meant “ad-dingilan”, signify a Manobo sensitive attitude of “listening” or practically “giving an ear” to a tribal leader (Datu or Bae). Whenever the tribe flock to the place and were asked where they’re going they responded as “ad-dingil-an”; which means they had an important assembly in the place. Originally the small chapel was located at the current location of the old Municipal gym. With the month of October as almost the end of first harvest season, this provided them a good reason for celebration and offer thanksgiving. Sergio Cerruti, SJ from Kibawe came and celebrated their fiesta mass. The settlers’ fiesta celebration complemented the difficulties of their farming activities year round. The increasing Catholic villages drew the recommendation of Jesuit District Superior in Bukidnon for a resident Priest and thus the parish was formally started with the approval of Archbishop Hayes, SJ of Cagayan de Oro where the province was still part of the Archdiocese. Rev Fr Alfonso Flores, SJ came in 1963 as the first resident priest and officially started the San Isidro Labrador Parish. Fr Flores stayed for six years and constructed the new church and founded San Isidro High School.
