KABSEMS Gathering Concludes with Holy Mass and Election of New Officers

The KABSEMS Gathering concluded on a joyful and prayerful note with the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Kid Kurt Beltran.

In his homily, Fr. Beltran reminded the seminarians that their identity and principles as future shepherds of the Church should never prevent them from embracing and standing firmly for the truth. Following the Mass, he also announced the parish apostolate assignments of the seminarians as part of their continuing formation and pastoral mission.

The gathering continued with the reading of the KABSEMS Constitution and By-Laws, followed by the election of the new set of officers who will lead the organization:

• President – Sem. John Raymond Montales
• Secretary – Sem. John Lemar Oyangorin
• Treasurer – Sem. Jeil Cadivida

Cluster Representatives
• Luzon – Sem. Renzo Tomado
• Panay – Sem. Jun Mark Nacion

As this year's gathering comes to a close, it leaves behind cherished memories, renewed friendships, and a stronger sense of fraternity among the seminarians. Indeed, it was a gathering filled with joy, unity, and faith—strengthening the bonds that connect us as one community journeying together in service to God and His Church.

LOOK || NEWLY INITIATED KABSEMS MEMBERS

A warm welcome to our 13 newest members of the Kabankalan Seminarians.

Through a series of engaging, meaningful, and reflective initiation activities, our pre-college seminarians successfully completed the challenges and embraced the spirit of fraternity, faith, and commitment.

The official rite of welcome was led by Rev. Fr. Kydd Kurt Beltran, Vocation Director, through the symbolic Rite of Baptism, marking their formal acceptance into the KABSEMS family.

Each of the 13 initiates was accompanied by their godparents, who will serve as guides, mentors, and companions as they continue their journey of discernment and formation.

May this new chapter inspire them to grow in faith, service, and brotherhood. Welcome to the KABSEMS family, brothers!

CAPTURED || KABSEMS Day 2 Begins Where It Matters Most: At the Altar

The second day of the KABSEMS Gathering commenced with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the source and summit of Christian life and the foundation of every seminarian's journey.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ricon Dagunan, Seminary Rector, with Rev. Fr. Eugene Lucerna II as concelebrant. In his profound homily, Fr. Lucerna reminded the seminarians to live with integrity and conviction, embodying the values of honesty, ethical conduct, and moral responsibility in their daily lives.

Following the Mass, the gathering continued as seminarians prepared for their departure to Treasure Island Resort, Cauayan, for the initiation and integration activities of the new KABSEMS members

Competitive spirit met brotherly camaraderie as the KABSEMS were divided into two teams—Philosophy and Theology—for an exciting afternoon of basketball and volleyball. Displaying remarkable teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship, Team Philo emerged victorious in both matches.

More than the scores and victories, the games became a venue for building stronger friendships, fostering unity, and creating lasting memories among fellow seminarians. Every pass, rally, and basket reflected not only skill and agility but also the joy of journeying together as brothers in formation.

As part of the KABSEMS Gathering 2026, these activities continue to strengthen the bonds among seminarians, encouraging them to become authentic companions to one another as they pursue holistic formation and prepare for their future ministry in the Diocese of Kabankalan.

With attentive hearts and minds, the seminarians of the Diocese of Kabankalan listened to the insightful talk of Fr. ReyMark on the theme, “Here I Am: Send Me, Lord” (cf. Isaiah 6:8).

Drawing from Sacred Scripture and the reflections of great thinkers, Fr. Rey Mark emphasized that the words “Here I am” are more than a simple response; they are a profound expression of trust, surrender, and availability to God’s call. He invited the seminarians to reflect on important questions: “How do I see myself now?” and “Where am I in my journey of formation?”

The reflection highlighted that saying Ad Sum (“Here I am”) means willingly offering oneself to God and embracing the formative process of seminary life. In responding, “Send me,” one accepts the mission entrusted by Christ—to preach, to heal, and to become a living witness of God's love among His people.

This annual gathering, which begins today, June 1, and concludes on June 3, 2026, provides an opportunity for seminarians in the Discipleship and Configuration Stages to deepen fraternity, strengthen their vocational commitment, and grow together in their journey of formation.

Congratulations, brothers! Keep the flame of excellence burning and the pursuit of veritas alive.
