What is the church?
"Topic 3" Letting Go of Loneliness

What is the most important command of all?
And Jesus said, "Of everything else, the most important thing you can do is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength. And to love the person sitting right next to you.

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. ... Acts 2:46-47 NIV

What Is a Jesus-Honoring Church?

•A Gathering of Grace.
“… you have a permanent place in my heart! You have remained partners with me in the wonderful grace of God ...” Philippians 1:7 TPT

•A Gathering of Healing
Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. ... James 5:16 NIV

•A Gathering of Mission.
Meaning we have divine purpose, and we have divine calling from our heavenly Father.

Every day they continued to meet together … They ... ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God ... And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 NIV

Becoming Who God Says You Are
"MY LONGING FOR APPROVAL"

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
Proverbs 29:25 NLT

1. FOCUS ON PLEASING GOD INSTEAD OF PLEASING PEOPLE.

We want to live not for the crowd, but for an audience of one, our Lord God.

Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant. Galatians 1:10 NLT

2. LIVE FROM THE APPROVAL OF GOD INSTEAD OF FOR THE APPROVAL OF PEOPLE.

This is life transforming to internalize this truth.
If you are a follower of Jesus, God approves of you through Christ; He already approves of you. You live from the approval of God instead of for the approval of people.

On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 NIV

Becoming Who God Says You Are
"MY RIGHT TO BE OFFENDED"

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Romans 12:3 NIV

BECAUSE OF CHRIST’S GRACE TO ME

* I'LL GIVE OTHERS THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.

Because I've been forgiven of so much, I'm going to think the best about others.

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Ephesians 4:2 NLT

*I WILL NOT LABEL OTHERS.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:36-37 NIV

Because of the grace extended to me through Christ, I will not label others.

* I'LL FORGIVE AS I’VE BEEN FORGIVEN.

Because of the grace Christ has given me, I will forgive as I've been forgiven.

Make allowance for each other's faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13 NLT

Becoming Who God Says You Are
Topic 2 "MY NEED FOR CONTROL"

WHAT IS IT YOU ARE TRYING TO CONTROL?

1. IS IT WORTH MY CONCERN?

Whenever Jesus was visiting the house of Mary and Martha, Martha was trying to control something that didn't matter that much. She wanted everything perfect and she was complaining to Jesus “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” Luke 10:40b NLT

41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 NLT

Because of our inflated egos, many of us were trying to control things that don't matter that much.

2. IS IT MINE TO CONTROL?

Sometimes it is yes, it's yours to control. There's something for you to do about it.
There are other times the answer is "no." Because surrendering control is not the same thing as surrendering responsibility; those are different things. You should still be responsible when you can.

3. IS IT FOR GOD ALONE?

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

When you try to control what you can’t—you’re anxious.
but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

You give it to God. You trust it to God. You lay it down your concern to God.
You surrender it to God. And when you do, what does scripture say will happen?
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

But when you take what belongs to God only and you lay it down on His altar, you will know God as Jehovah Jireh, which means, "He is our provider," that he will provide everything you need. We lay down even what we think we want, so God can ultimately give us what we need. "I will not be in control." "I trust God with those things that belong to him.

To conclude this series, "Live Your Calling", we have discovered that our fifth calling is "We are callled to be SENT"

“Ordinary people empowered by God making a difference together wherever they are!” – Rick warren

This calling is not for superstars, pastors, missionaries, priests, nuns but this calling is for ordinary people empowered by God (not by our own strength), making difference together (you can’t do it on your own but you need other people to be with you) wherever they are.

ROMANS 10:13-15 (NLT)
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

The words consecration and sanctification are closely related, and in fact, the same Hebrew and Greek words can be translated as either consecration or sanctification depending on the context and grammatical construction. However, that being said, it would be incorrect to conclude that consecration and sanctification are exactly the same or that the two terms are interchangeable.

Ephesians 6:10-13
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms.

War happened in the heavenly realm during those 21 days. After the 21 days an angel of the Lord appeared to Daniel and vs 19 says, the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength.

You will face battles in the heavenly realms this year. But remember this, we can declare victory over our enemy in 2023 in the name of Jesus! As we start out this year with fasting and prayer lets get ready to see God do some amazing things in our lives!

New Year’s Resolutions That Will Grow Your Faith

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

Four off-the-beaten-path New Year’s resolutions that can have a big impact.
1. Becoming more mindful of God’s presence
2. Coming to the defense of others
3. Focusing on becoming a better servant
4. Make a plan to memorize Scripture

Ultimately, resolutions work best when they’re the product of genuine contemplation about opportunities for personal growth. But sometimes seeing the resolutions of others can inform how you think about your own plans.Obviously, focusing on more time in prayer and Scripture reading is essential.
