Midyphil B. Billones, D.D., Archbishop of Jaro, Apostolic Administrator of Kabankalan, and Episcopal Board Chairman.

Diocesan Summit of Parish Fiscals and Finance Administrators 2026

The Diocese of Kabankalan successfully conducted the Diocesan Summit of Parish Fiscals and Finance Administrators 2026 on August 14–15, 2026. The two-day gathering brought together parish fiscals, finance administrators, and other parish finance representatives for a meaningful time of formation, orientation, collaboration, and sharing.

The summit focused on the theme, “Diocesan Fiscals and Finance Administrators Summit 2026: Synodal Journey towards Accountable and Collaborative Leadership.” Participants engaged in discussions on parish structures and documentation, diocesan policies, canonical and financial matters, finance situations, group sharing, and the proposed financial system.

The activity was organized by the Diocese of Kabankalan to strengthen cooperation between the chancery and parish fiscal offices and to promote more accountable, transparent, and collaborative financial administration. Through prayer, learning, dialogue, and fellowship, the summit became an important step toward better service and stewardship in the parishes.

Visayas Indigenous Peoples Apostolate Meeting 2026

The Visayas Indigenous Peoples Apostolate (IPA) Meeting was held on August 11–12, 2026, at the Nicaea Retreat Center, Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

The gathering brought together clergy directors, Indigenous Peoples Apostolate representatives, IP advocates, and pastoral workers from various dioceses in the Visayas, including the Archdiocese of Capiz, Diocese of San Carlos, Diocese of Dumaguete, Diocese of Kabankalan, Archdiocese of Jaro, and Diocese of Antique, together with a representative from the Ati community of Boracay.

Representing the Diocese of Kabankalan were Fr. Harold Villaruel, Director of the Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and Mr. Pablito Gonzales, IP Apostolate Director. They actively participated in discussions on current issues affecting Indigenous Peoples and the Church’s pastoral engagement with them.

Among the major matters discussed were the proposed Guidelines on Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), EVOSS under RA 11234, various environmental and Indigenous Peoples-related legislative measures, and House Bill 621, which proposes amendments to the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act (IPRA).

The meeting was further enriched by the presence of Most Rev. Moises M. Cuevas, D.D., Episcopal Chairman on Indigenous Peoples of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). His presence underscored the Church’s continuing commitment to accompanying Indigenous Peoples, protecting their rights and dignity, and strengthening the IPA ministry throughout the region.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2026
"Youth and Solidarity Night"

August 9, 2026 | Isabela Sociocultural Center, Isabela, Negros Occidental

Rev. Fr. Harold Villaruel, Director of the Commission on Indigenous Peoples, represented the Diocese of Kabankalan during the Youth and Solidarity Night held in celebration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

His presence and support expressed the Diocese’s solidarity with Indigenous communities, especially the youth. The gathering became a meaningful occasion to celebrate culture, strengthen friendship, and promote unity and respect for Indigenous Peoples.

Through his presence, the Diocese of Kabankalan joined the community in celebrating culture, dignity, and solidarity.
