Bishop-Prelate Names New Cathedral Parish Admin, Vicars on Assumption Feast
Today, the Universal Church celebrates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while the parish community of Sta. Isabel de Portugal Cathedral Parish welcomes its new parish Vicars and Administrator.
Bishop Leo M. Dalmao CMF, D.D spearheaded the Rites of Installation and Presentation of Parochial Vicars and Administrator of the Cathedral Parish namely, Rev. Msgr Franklyn Floyd G. Costan, JCL as the Parish Administrator, at the same time, 2 Vicars namely, Rev. Fr. Joselito D. Delos Reyes and Rev. Fr. Euclid D. Balosbalos, likely, Rev. Msgr. Valeriano Cabalog Jr. joined the rites of installation. The rites formally entrusted them with the pastoral leadership of the mother church.
In his Homily, the Bishop linked the two celebrations, and they are not distant to each other. The Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Installation of the new Parish Shepherds.
“These celebrations are not separate. They illustrate each other”The Bishop emphasized.
Bishop Dalmao furthermore said that the Church is a venture, journeying together with God, where He continues to work through "humble, simple, and faithful people", likely, it is seen to Mary, a humble women of the simple village of Nazareth where she faithfully received the call of the creator to become the womb bearer of His Son.
“Assumption is a triumph of humble fidelity. It is not a triumph of somebody who is wealthy or powerful. It is a triumph of Humility”he stressed out.
From Mary's example of fidelity, he then turned to the responsibly entrusted to the new administrator and Vicars that their jurisdiction is not a small community, he underscored the significance of the Cathedral Parish as the mother church, and the parishes under it drew her as the spiritual example and inspiration.
May the new Parish Shepherds be guided under Mary's mantle of care, through the miraculous intercession of Sta. Isabel, and the guidance of the holy spirit. As Bishop Leo concludes his Homily, he left the Catholic Faithfuls with a powerful message, "Mary teaches us the path of fidelity, Sta. Isabel teaches us reconciliation.”
