The laity should not lift up hands during the Our Father, along with responding “And with your Spirit” or at any other time during the Mass.

In 1997, Pope John Paul II delivered instructions “On Certain Questions Regarding the Collaboration of the Non-Ordained Faithful in the Sacred Ministry of Priest: Practical Provisions” and said:

The habit of lifting up our hands during Mass may take a while to break. We are urged to be a pastoral model for others by holding our hands together in prayer during the Our Father.

Ano nga ba ang pinagkaiba ng ASCENSION at ASSUMPTION?
✏️ Ascension - pag-akyat sa langit gamit ang SARILING KAPANGYARIHAN. Ito ang ginawa ng Panginoong Jesus 40 araw pagkatapos ng kanyang muling pagkabuhay.
✏️ Assumption - ito naman ang pag-akyat sa langit dahil sa kapangyarihan ng iba. Ito ang nangyari sa Mahal na Birheng Maria, iniakyat siya sa langit ng Makapangyarihang Dios.

THE PEÑAFRANCIA 2022 OFFICIAL LOGO AND THEME

We are happy to share with you the Official Logo for the forthcoming celebration of the Feast of the Divino Rostro and the Solemnity of Our Lady of Peñafrancia which represents our Official General Theme, “Mary accompanies us in our journey towards a synodal Church” (“Si Maria nag-aantabay sa satong paglakbay na magin sinodal na Simbahan”).

The logo, which is inspired by the large stained-glass windows of the forty-year-old Minor Basilica, reflects the Fluvial Procession, a highlight of the annual Peñafrancia Fiesta and the Peñafrancia de Mayo celebrations, where the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia and the Divino Rostro journey together through the Naga River towards their sanctuary.

Joining their journey aboard the Pagoda are representatives from various sectors of society, namely: a father bearing a child, a common man, a mother, a bishop, and a voyador. This is emblematic of the Archdiocese’s efforts of allowing ordinary people to board the vessel, which stands today as our local Church’s most visible expression of synodality.

Overall, the logo is a representation of the theme of this year’s Peñafrancia Fiesta and our Church’s pursuit of synodality: to journey with Mary and her Son towards true communion, participation, and mission through dialogue and collaboration between people from different walks of life.

As one community of faith and devotion, let us reflect on this theme and use this logo as the enduring symbol of this year’s Fiesta and of our shared journey in the spirit of Synodality.

REST IN PEACE, FORMER PRES. FIDEL V. RAMOS

Eternal rest grant unto the soul of former president Fidel V. Ramos , and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

May His soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Mary, Martha, and their brother, Lazarus shared a home in Bethany, a tiny hamlet in Judaea near Jerusalem. They were Jesus' devoted followers, and Jesus adored them. Martha was cleaning the house and cooking meals one day while Jesus was visiting them.

Pope Francis authorized the inscription of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus into the General Roman Calendar on January 26, 2021, to replace the existing commemoration of Saint Martha alone. Every year on July 29, Sts. Martha, Mary, and Lazarus are commemorated as an Obligatory Memorial.
