Advent isn’t just a countdown to Christmas—it’s the start of a new liturgical year, a season of waiting, hope, and preparation. Advent encourages that we prepare not just for Christmas, but for Christ’s eventual coming.

The readings for the 1st Sunday of Advent highlight themes of peace, joy, and vigilance. Isaiah paints a compelling vision of all nations gathering at God’s mountain, while the psalm serves as an urgent prayer for peace in Jerusalem. Paul insists that we awaken and live as children of the light, and Jesus warns us to be steadfast and ready for His sudden return.

This week calls us to open our hearts to God, walk boldly in His light, and love others as we eagerly prepare for His coming. As we prepare ourselves for this season, may we respond to the call to slow down, pray, and embrace the anticipation of Jesus with unwavering joy.

Today is the anniversary of the Vatican Recognition of CFC as a Private International Association of the Faithful of Pontifical Right.
On 25 April 2005, feast of St. Mark the Evangelist, the Vatican, through the then Pontifical Council for the Laity, granted "definitive approval of the Statutes of Couples for Christ thereby confirming permanent recognition of CFC as a private international association of the faithful, with juridical personality, according to canon 298-311-329 of the Code of Canon Law".
