Daily Devotion : "The Light of God's Glory in Our Hearts"

2 Corinthians 4:6
New Living Translation
6 For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.

One of Merriam-Webster's definitions of the word passion is very fitting for Christians: “intense, driving, or over mastering feeling or conviction.”Believers who truly make a differencefor the kingdom of God have strong convictions that drive them carry out God's plan for their lives in their little corners of the world.

Many unbelievers assume that the God-life is boring and stifling, but when we follow God where He leads,it's anything but. Yes, we'll have seasons that are predictable, but we also can't forget that Jesus walked on water during wind storms during His thirty-three years on earth. People of passion find joy in following this same Jesus into the unknown. Having a FULL Life full of passion because this is HOW God made you to be,so you should LET his life unfold just as He planned. ASK God to stir up the passion He PUT inside you, and see if you DON'T experience a deeper level of joy.

Prayer:
Lord, stir up the passion in me to DO Your will! As the Scripture says,SET my heart ablaze.

Daily Devotion :
"The Riches of His Glorious Inheritance..."

Ephesians 1:18
New Living Translation
18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Modern mind-sets have drained thejoy right out of some people's lives. For example, there was a time when people saw the value of rest and sleep and peaceful Sunday afternoons, but no more. During the last generation or so,we've swallowed the idea that the chaos of a hectic schedule isn't just acceptable, it's admirable, and anything less is a sure sign of laziness! In fact, sometimes we're tempted to tell others we're busy even when we're not, as though busyness were a virtue. We end up making excuses for (or even feeling embarrassed about) taking time off to rejuvenate.

How sad that we're so accustomed to feeling stress that we no longer know what it's like to be lighthearted and full of joy. In fact, some of us haven't experienced lightness of heart since we were children. No wonderJesus encouraged His followers to “become like little children” (Matthew18:3).

Prayer :
Today, take time to stop and rest until you feel lighthearted and joyful. Lord, teach me to be like a child; please give me joy and lightness of heart.

Daily Devotion : " All For His Glory..."

1 Corinthians 10:31
New Living Translation
31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Have you ever done a good thing with a bad attitude? No doubt most of us have, only to discover that there isn't any joy in doing things that way. When we do a good deed and immediately turn to God and say, “Did You see that?I didn't want to do it, but I did. Ilistened to her problems even though I have plenty of my own,” we do the seemingly right thing, but on the inside we're grumbling and complaining.

We will only have joy in the things we do if we are doing them for the glory of God. Every “good” thing we do for someone should be done with a mindset of pointing that person to the Lord. When we begin acting with godly motives, we will experience the joy that comes with it.Think about the last good deed you did for someone. Did it bring you joy? If not, ask God to reveal your motive behind doing it.

Prayer :

Give me a heart that seeks to bring You glory, Lord. That is the only path to a joyful life.

Daily Devotion : "Job's Well-Intentioned Friends"

Job 2:11-13
New Living Translation
11 When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. 12 When they saw Job from a distance, they scarcely recognized him. Wailing loudly, they tore their robes and threw dust into the air over their heads to show their grief. 13 Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words.

Have you ever wanted to live in your own little bubble away from the world for a while? There's just so much stuff out there, right? It's tempting to create our own sanitized version of the world and never venture beyond the four walls of our home. But that's not the way we were created to live.Trying to protect ourselves from any discomfort is unsatisfying.

Job's three friends could have stayed in the comfort of their own homes and simply felt sorry for him. They could have remained surrounded by their own families and thought, Glad that didn't happen to me. The problem with that is God's people will never know joy when they ignore the pain of others
We can discover joy when we are present in someone else's pain. When we make up our minds to leave our homes, to be inconvenienced and uncomfortable, an unexplainable joy floods the soul. Who needs you to show up?

Prayer :
It's easier, Lord,to feel sorry for someone from afar ,but I'll find a deep, abiding joy in showing up.Make me someone who shows up.2

Daily Devotion : " The God Who Sees Me *

Genesis 16:13
New Living Translation
13 Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.”[a] She also said, “Have I truly seen the One who sees me?”

Life is just plain difficult, isn't it? It's very easy to become so focused on the drama of the day that we don't see anything beyond our own issues. We would never verbalize it, but we live in a way that says, “Every man fo rhimself!”We strive to make our lives easier, and meanwhile our brothers and sisters are drowning in despair allaround us.

A sure fire way to increase our joy isto begin truly seeing other people.Whether we're at the grocery store, the workplace, or our homes, let's put down our phones and lift our heads. When we begin seeing people the way God sees people, we will find ourselves loving them the way He loves them. When we begin loving people, we will reap the joyful rewards.

Many people around us are desperate to be seen. Let's have eyes that see them.

Prayer :
I know I can find joy in truly seeing the people You have placed in mylife,Lord. May no one cross my path unseen.

Daily Devotion : " Perfect Clarity".

1 Corinthians 13:12
New Living Translation
12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.[a] All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

When you read the word bothersome, maybe you think of running from your car into the store during a rainstorm, watching your kids make a mess as they eat breakfast ,or helping your brother change the alternator-again. But when wear,. tear, and age take their toll and your legs don't work the way they used to; or once the kids have moved away; or after your brother has joined the military...then you realize these annoyances were actually treasures.

Do your best not to miss the little things or the bothersome things.Extract the joy to be found in each of them.

Prayer :
Lord, forgive me for looking rightpast the treasures to be found in themoments that tend to annoy me.. Open my eyes to what's really taking place.

Daily Devotion : "God's Control Over All Circumstances"

Ecclesiastes 7:14
New Living Translation
14 Enjoy prosperity while you can,. but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.

We take great joy in things we once took for granted when we're forced to do without them for a time. Suddenly we see them differently; we realize their true value. They fill us with joy in a way they never did before.

Have you ever considered that this might be the reason God occasionally allows you to do without certain things (or even people) for a time? When He puts distance between you and the gifts He gives, you realize what really matters in life, and you're reminded that He gives you countless good things everyday.

Prayer:
Lord, May I recognize the value in everything and everyone You've given me and help me to be patient and grateful when you temporarily distance me from those blessings.

Daily Devotion : " Faithful Waiting"

Acts 1:6-7 ( New Living Translation)
6 So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” 7 He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.

Life is full of waiting, and if we don't wait well, it can slowly steal our joy. The disciples were all huddled in the upper room, having a meal with the miracle-working, crucified, yet risen Jesus. Suddenly, everything makes sense. Everything Jesus said would happen has happened. Can you feel the excitement? Can you see them on pins and needles anticipating their next assignment? And Jesus says,“Wait."

Sometimes we lose joy when we attempt to rush ahead of God's perfect timing. We're all waiting on something; let's take a deep breath and become people who wait well.

Prayer :

Teach me to see the joy in waiting,Lord.Help me to be still and to wait with an attitude that honors You.

DAILY DEVOTION : "From God: The Senses of Perception"

Proverbs 20:12
New Living Translation
12 Ears to hear and eyes to see— both are gifts from the Lord.

Our ability to see the small miracles and “winks from God" that happen every day,-along with our willingness ito thank God for them has a lot to dowith how much joy we experience. Doyou need more joy? Learn to recognize the finger prints of God all around you, and don't waste a minute before thanking Him when you encounter a small miracle in the middle of a routine day.

Prayer :
Jesus, give me eyes to see the small miracles that happen every day. Thank You so much for the countless gifts You give!

Daily Devotion : "Examine Your Own Work and Support Those Who Teach"

Galatians 6:4-6
New International Reader's Version
4 Each person should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves. They won’t be comparing themselves to someone else. 5 Each person should carry their own load. 6 But those who are taught the word should share all good things with their teacher.

Comparing your competency or success to that of another person is a fruitless endeavor. You should be comparing, your accomplishments to your" goals or your expectations, or better yet, to God's expectations. Comparing your acquisitions or worldly goods to those of others at work or in your church, family, or neighborhood is not what God wants. "Someone is always left feeling like a failure.

Theodore Roosevelt is quoted as saying,“Comparison is the thief of joy." We will never be joyful people as long as we compare ourselves to someone else: We are only seeing the cropped and filtered version that they want us to see. We can have joy when we examine our own hearts and actions and compare them to the only thing that matters: God's Word.

We can have joy when we each stayin our lane and run our own race.

Prayer :
I will no longer allow comparison to steal my joy and distract me from You,Lord.

Daily Devotion :
"Living a Life of Prayer and Gratitude".

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
English Standard Version
17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

If we aren't careful, prayer becomes an item on our to-do list that falls somewhere between loading the dishwasher and paying the electric bill.We know we should do it and we really want to do it. Yet, in the hustle and bustle of life, we do it, check it off our list, and move on with our day. We will never reap the full benefit of prayer treating it that way. Prayer is meant to be more than an action; it's supposed to be an ongoing attitude.

When we live with a prayerful attitude, we are constantly in contact with the One who loves us more than any other. Neglecting prayer is a surefire way to lose our joy. Prayer is our, way to continually remain in the Lord's presence, and in His presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

We can live joyfully when we pray without ceasing. To know that You are as close as a prayer is pure joy to my heart,

Prayer :
Lord. There is no better place than in Your presence.

Daily Devotion : "Rescued in Safety"

Psalm 18:19
New Living Translation
19 He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.

Unfortunately, there are many people who can't grasp how great God's love is for them personally, Because we're His creations, He cherishes us-each of us.In various parts of the Bible He calls us"the apple of His eye"or His"beloved," or "the one He loves." In Psalm 18:19, He tells us He "delight[s]”in us!

Think of how you delight in a baby's smile, or how you delighted in your engagement ring, or how a forest after the rain delights your senses. "Then imagine how God must have capped His hands and laughed when you took your first breath. He was delighted! And now He still delights in you,“warts and all.”

It doesn't matter what you did yesterday or ten years ago; if you've repented of those sins, He delights in you. You can also delight in the Lord.Having the God of the universe love you personally, deeply ,and unconditionally should,in itself, overwhelm you with joy.

Prayer :
Your love, O Lord, is overwhelming. Thank You for delighting in me. I delight in You also my God, my Savior, and my Friend.
