St. Elizabeth of Hungary, pray for us! 🙏🙏🙏

Today, in the Archdiocese of Jaro, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral Church of Jaro.

On May 26, 1965, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Cathedral was dedicated after it was damaged because of the 1948 Lady Caycay Earthquake and was restored during the time of Archbishop Jose Maria Cuenco. The dedication was also made possible after the freestanding altar was erected to adapt to the reforms brought about by the Second Vatican Council. The dedication was held on the eve of the Centenary of the Canonical Er****on of the Diocese of Jaro on May 27, 1865.

The Solemnity of the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral Church is an important in the celebration in the liturgical calendar of that particular diocese because it celebrates and honors the role of the Cathedral as the Mother Church of the diocese - the central church where the liturgical life of the people of God is magnified and where the bishop sits and exhorts to the faith as shepherd of the flock God has entrusted to his care.

God of majesty, you choose living stones to fashion for yourself an eternal dwelling place. Increase the spiritual gifts you have given to your Church, that your faithful people may continue to grow and so build up the new and heavenly Jerusalem. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

PHOTOS | The faithful of the Archdiocesan Shrine & Parish of Our Lady of Fatima gathered in joy and prayerful celebration for the Solemnity of Pentecost, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the birth of the Church 🔥🙏

On this blessed occasion, the entire Archdiocese of Jaro also joyfully launched the 75th Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the Canonical Elevation of the Diocese of Jaro into an Archdiocese — a milestone of faith, mission, and communion throughout the years. 💎✨

May the Holy Spirit continue to renew our hearts and guide us as one Church, united in faith and service.

𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟴 | 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗜

St. John I served as Pope from 523 to 526 during a time of growing tension between the Church and political rulers. Known for his wisdom and gentleness, he was sent by the Ostrogothic king Theodoric to Constantinople as an ambassador. Although his mission initially succeeded, the king later suspected him of betrayal because of his support for unity and peace within the Church.

Upon returning to Italy, Pope John I was imprisoned in Ravenna, where he suffered from harsh treatment and deprivation. He eventually died in captivity in 526, becoming honored as a martyr for his faithfulness to Christ and the Church.

Despite suffering and injustice, St. John I remained steadfast in truth, humility, and courage. His life reminds us that true leadership is rooted not in power, but in fidelity to God even amid trials.

As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, 40 days after Easter, may our hearts rise with Him, trusting in His promise to remain with us always. 🙏🙏🙏

READ: With the recent impeachment case involving the Vice President of the Philippines and the rising tension in government, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has issued a statement urging our legislators in both the House of Representatives and the Senate to act with integrity and justice, and to convene without delay for the sake of truth and justice for the Filipino people.

The faithful are exhorted to ‘fulfil our civic duties and responsibilities by ensuring a fair and credible trial’ and to ‘strengthen our nation against misinformation, disinformation, and manipulation.’

Let us continue to pray for our government leaders — for a deeper sense of accountability and transparency — and for justice and peace to prevail in our nation. May the Lord guide our nation in this time of trial, and may His Spirit inspire us to walk together in truth and charity.

𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 | 𝟗𝐀𝐌 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚 ✧

𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐕. 𝐌𝐒𝐆𝐑. 𝐉𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐎, 𝐏𝐂, 𝐕𝐆 reminded the faithful that like Mary, our “yes” to God is not only spoken once, but lived daily through small acts of faith, love, and service.

He compared Christians without a sense of mission to a bonsai tree — full of potential, yet unable to fully grow.

Like Mary, may we continue to ask: “𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞?” 🙏✨
