As we begin this week, let us place this new day in Godโ€™s hands. May we be reminded to trust Him in our studies, responsibilities, and in every challenge we may face. May this prayer give us the strength to remain patient, focused, and faithful, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us. ๐Ÿ™

โ€œWho do you say that I am?โ€

In todayโ€™s Gospel, Jesus asks His disciples a question that is deeply personal. It is no longer about what other people say about Him. Jesus asks each of us: โ€œSin-o bala ako para sa imo?โ€ โ€” Who am I to you?

In his homily, Rev. Msgr. Ely Rafael Fuentes, PC, PhD reminds us that our answer should be more than words. To truly say, โ€œYou are the Christ,โ€ means allowing Jesus to become the foundation of our lives.

Our families may not be perfect. Our communities are not perfect. We ourselves are not perfect. Yet Jesus does not wait for us to become perfect before calling us. Like Peter, we are invited to trust Him, grow in faith, and allow Him to transform us.

When Christ is truly our foundation, our faith becomes visible in the way we live: we choose honesty over cheating, kindness over cruelty, truth over fake news, forgiveness over resentment, generosity over greed, and service over selfishness. We stand with those who struggle and recognize the dignity of every person, especially those who have less than us.

May we continue to ask ourselves: Who is Jesus in my life? And may our answer be reflected not only in what we say, but in how we love, serve, forgive, and live each day.

Christ must be our foundation.

St. Pius X, born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, served as Pope from 1903 until his death in 1914. Born into a humble family in Italy, he was known throughout his life for his simplicity, humility, and deep love for the Church and the poor.

As Pope, St. Pius X worked to renew the spiritual life of the Church. He encouraged frequent reception of Holy Communion and made it possible for children to receive the Eucharist at an earlier age, believing that the Blessed Sacrament should be at the heart of the Christian life. He also promoted the study of Sacred Scripture, improved the formation of priests, and worked to preserve the integrity of Catholic teaching.

St. Pius X reminds us that holiness does not depend on status or position, but on a heart that remains humble and faithful to God. His life calls us to deepen our love for the Eucharist and to place Christ at the center of all that we do.

On this day in 1917, Our Lady appeared to Lรบcia, Francisco, and Jacinta at Valinhos, Portugalโ€”a brief deviation from her usual visits on the 13th of each month at Cova da Iria. Just days earlier, the three shepherd children had been arrested and interrogated by local authorities seeking to suppress the apparitions. Released unharmed, they were met once again by the Blessed Mother on August 19, who renewed her plea for daily prayer and sacrifices for sinners.

To fully appreciate the significance of this 4th apparition, it helps to look back at the messages leading up to it:

๐Ÿ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘): Our Lady first appeared above a holm oak tree, calling the children to return on the 13th of every month and asking them to pray the Rosary daily to bring peace to a war-torn world.

๐Ÿ‘๐ซ๐ ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘): Our Lady entrusted the children with the famous ๐“๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐ž ๐’๐ž๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐…รก๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐š โ€” a vision of Hell, a prophecy regarding World War II and the consecration of Russia, and a vision of a persecuted Pope and holy martyrs.

When August 13 arrived, the children were unable to make it to Cova da Iria due to their imprisonment. Yet, six days later, on August 19, Our Lady met them at Valinhos, reaffirming that no worldly opposition can derail heaven's grace.

May we answer her call today by praying the Rosary for world peace and offering up our daily sacrifices.

MORNING PRAYER | ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•

As we begin this Monday of the 20th Week in Ordinary Time, letโ€™s reflect on Jesusโ€™ call in the Gospel to let go of our earthly attachments and trust Him completely. Inspired by the life of St. Clare of Montefalco, who held the Cross close to her heart, may this prayer help us open our hands and minds to His grace today.

In this Sundayโ€™s Gospel (Matthew 15:21โ€“28), we meet a Canaanite woman who comes to Jesus, pleading for the healing of her daughter. Even when Jesus seems silent and the disciples urge Him to send her away, she does not leave. She continues to ask, kneels before Him, and simply cries out, โ€œLord, help me.โ€

Through this Gospel, we are reminded of the power of persevering prayer. Prayer does not always bring an immediate answer or remove our burdens right away. Sometimes, it changes our circumstances; other times, it gives us the strength, patience, and courage to carry them. Like the Canaanite woman, may we continue to trust God even when we cannot yet see what He is doing.

But prayer does not end when our prayers are answered. We are also called to give thanksโ€”to remain close to God not only in times of need, but also in moments of blessing. As Rev. Msgr. Ely Rafael Fuentes, PC, PhD reminds us, we should not remember God only when we need something. When the door opens, when healing comes, when our problems are resolved, may our prayer of petition become a prayer of thanksgiving.

As we live out the Synodal value of Perseverance in Prayer, may we remember: Pray until something happensโ€”and when something happens, donโ€™t stop praying.

Keep praying, keep trusting, keep thanking, and keep walking with Jesus๐Ÿค
