TO LIVE IS CHRIST. — Philippians 1:21

Tonight, we were reminded that when Christ becomes your life, everything changes.

Your past doesn’t have to define you. Your suffering doesn’t mean God has abandoned you. And spiritual maturity means continuing to pursue Christ and desire to know Him more.

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21

Grateful for tonight’s Scripture Session with Bro Cristian at Exalt Jesus City Church. 🙏🏻

May Christ not simply be part of our lives—may He be our life.

𝗕𝗘𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦. 𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧.

We live in a world where technology can store more information, answer more questions, and connect us faster than ever.

But the greatest question is not how much we know.
It is what is shaping our hearts.

Join us this Sunday as we talk about the 3Gs of Grace:

𝟬𝟭 — 𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧
𝟬𝟮 — 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗪 𝗜𝗡 𝗚𝗢𝗗’𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘
𝟬𝟯 — 𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗬 𝗚𝗢𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗚𝗜𝗙𝗧

Technology is a servant. Jesus is Lord.

Come worship with us and be reminded that technology may change the world, but only the grace of God in Jesus Christ can change the human heart.

𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 “𝐁𝐀𝐀𝐋” 𝐈𝐒 𝐀𝐋𝐒𝐎 𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐆𝐎𝐃?

Wait...

𝐁𝐀𝐀𝐋?

The same word we usually associate with the false god worshiped by the Canaanites?

Yes.

But there is a fascinating detail behind this word that many people don't realize.

In Hebrew, “baal” can mean lord, master, or owner.

It eventually became strongly associated with the Canaanite deity Baal, which is why Christians usually hear the word and immediately think of idolatry.

But there is a fascinating place in the Bible where the word BAAL appears in a name connected with something David said about the LORD.

📖 2 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐔𝐄𝐋 𝟓:𝟐𝟎

After David defeated the Philistines, he said:

“The LORD has broken through my enemies before me like a breakthrough of water.”

And David named that place:

𝐁𝐀𝐀𝐋-𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐌.

The name carries the idea of:

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐒.

Now here's where the story gets interesting.

𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐃𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐃 𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐂𝐇 𝐀 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄?

To understand it, we have to go back to the beginning of the story.

David had finally become king over all Israel.

After years of running from Saul...

Years of hiding in caves...

Years of uncertainty...

Years of fighting...

Years of waiting for God's promise...

David was finally sitting on the throne.

But becoming king didn't mean the battles were over.

In fact, almost immediately, the Philistines heard that David had become king.

And they came looking for him.

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 W𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐘 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐑.

David could have relied on his experience.

After all, David wasn't a beginner.

He had fought lions.

He had fought bears.

He had defeated Goliath.

He had led armies.

He had survived years of warfare.

But David did something very important.

𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐃𝐎.

📖 2 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐔𝐄𝐋 𝟓:𝟏𝟗

David inquired of the LORD:

“Shall I go up against the Philistines?”

And God answered:

“Go up, for I will certainly give the Philistines into your hand.”

David obeyed.

And God gave him victory.

Then David said something that became the reason the place received its name:

“The LORD has broken through my enemies before me like a breakthrough of water.”

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐃'𝐒 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓.

𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐃'𝐒 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇.

So David called the place:

𝐁𝐀𝐀𝐋-𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐌.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐒.

But...

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄.

The Philistines came back.

Same enemy.

Another battle.

And David did something that reveals just how dependent he was on God.

𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍.

God gave him a completely different strategy.

This time, God said:

“Do not go straight up.”

David was told to circle around behind the Philistines.

Then God told him to wait.

And when David heard the sound of marching in the tops of the trees...

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄.

Why?

Because God said:

“Then the LORD will have gone out before you.”

Think about that.

David had already experienced a breakthrough.

But he still needed to hear from God again.

𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐃𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐍𝐎 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃 𝐆𝐎𝐃.

David didn't say:

“God gave me victory last time, so I'll just do the same thing.”

No.

𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍.

And God gave him another instruction.

That's a powerful lesson.

𝐘𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐘'𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐘 𝐌𝐀𝐘 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐁𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘'𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍.

Your previous testimony is evidence of God's faithfulness.

But it is not a substitute for today's dependence on God.

And maybe that's why Baal-perazim is more than just an interesting Bible name.

It became a memorial.

David looked at that place and remembered:

𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇.

The battlefield became a testimony.

The place of conflict became a place of remembrance.

The place where David faced opposition became the place where he learned something deeper about God.

𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇.

Maybe you're facing your own Baal-perazim right now.

Maybe you're praying about something that hasn't moved.

Maybe you're facing an obstacle that seems too strong.

Maybe you're waiting for a door to open.

Maybe you've been asking:

“God, when are You going to break through?”

Remember David's words:

“The LORD has broken through.”

David didn't say:

“I was strong enough.”

“I was experienced enough.”

“I had the perfect strategy.”

He said:

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇.

That's the testimony.

Not that we were strong enough.

Not that we were smart enough.

Not that we figured everything out.

But that:

𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐔𝐒.

And maybe one day, you'll look back at the very place where you struggled...

The place where you cried...

The place where you almost gave up...

And you'll realize:

𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐘 𝐁𝐀𝐀𝐋-𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐌.

The place I thought would destroy me...

became the place where I discovered that God still breaks through.

THEY MAY HAVE LIFE

God can promise you something without you having to create the drama to make it happen.

Abraham didn’t manufacture the promise. He trusted the God who made it.

Sometimes faith looks less like forcing and more like waiting, walking, and believing.

Before Abraham saw the fulfillment, he believed the Promise-giver. He walked with God through Genesis 12, 15, and 17, even when the promise seemed impossible.

Maybe you don’t need to force what God has already promised.

God spoke.
Abraham believed.
Abraham walked with the promise.

The same God who made the promise is faithful to fulfill it.

Don’t manufacture what only God can fulfill.
Trust Him. Walk with Him. Wait on Him.

BEYOND THE COURT: Building a Generation for Christ

What an amazing day of basketball, fellowship, and faith with our brothers and young people from San Isidro and Lambunao Church!

Today wasn't just about winning games or making shots. It was about building friendships, encouraging one another, growing stronger, and keeping Christ at the center of everything we do.

We believe the next generation needs more than entertainment—they need purpose.

🙏 Spiritually — Growing deeper in God's Word and relationship with Jesus.
💪 Physically — Learning discipline, teamwork, resilience, and healthy habits through sports.
❤️ Personally — Developing character, integrity, respect, responsibility, and Christlike values.

In a world full of distractions, we're committed to creating spaces where young people can belong, grow, and discover the life-changing love of Christ.

The court brought us together, but Jesus is the reason we're here.

Thank you to everyone who played, served, supported, and encouraged others throughout this fellowship. Your presence made a difference!

One court. One fellowship. One generation being transformed for Christ.
