YOUth mind matters | Sino o ano ang iyong pahinga?

Life can be demanding. Between responsibilities, expectations, and the quiet battles we carry, everyone needs a place, a person, or a moment that allows the heart to rest.

For some, it may be family, friends, music, prayer, or simply a quiet corner after a long day. For others, it may be found in serving, in studying, in creating, or in spending time with the people who make them feel safe.

Even in our faith, we are reminded that rest is not a luxury. It is a gift. Jesus Himself invites those who are weary and burdened to come to Him. In a world that constantly asks us to keep going, finding true rest is both necessary and sacred.

Whatever or whoever brings peace to your heart, treasure it. These are often God's gentle ways of reminding us that we do not have to carry everything alone.

Reminder:
There is something deeply comforting about having a person, a place, or a moment that becomes your rest.

Hold on to them.

YOUth mind matters | Ano ang masami mo ginapabay-an sa imo kaugalingon nga kabalo ka nga ginadeserve mo man?

There are times when a person can be kind, patient, and understanding to others, yet struggle to give that same kindness to themselves.

In daily life, whether as a student, a worker, or someone serving in the community, it becomes easy to give time, energy, and care to others while quietly neglecting one’s own needs. Rest is delayed, feelings are set aside, and self-compassion is often forgotten.

In faith, we are reminded that each person is created with dignity and worth. Caring for others is important, but it should not come at the cost of forgetting one’s own well-being. Growth also means learning to care for oneself in a healthy and honest way.

Reminder: If you can give it to others, do not withhold it from yourself.

YOU ARE WORTHY kalakbay!

The patience, understanding, rest, and kindness you offer to others, you also deserve to receive.

Today’s Challenge:
Think of one thing you often give to others but rarely give to yourself. Ask yourself:

Is it rest?
Understanding?
Forgiveness?
Time?
An advice?

Then take one small step today.
Give that same thing to yourself without guilt.

It may feel unfamiliar at first, but learning to care for yourself is also part of becoming whole. *shouldertap :)

YOUth mind matters | When you feel like you’re alone, how do you deal with the sadness?

There are days when the silence feels louder than everything else.
Even in a crowd—at school, at work, or even in ministry—we can still feel alone.

Loneliness has a way of making us feel unseen, unheard, and distant from others. It can make simple days feel heavier than they should be.

But in our faith, we are reminded that even in our quietest and loneliest moments, we are never truly alone. God is present—even in the silence, even in the heaviness. And sometimes, His presence comes through the people around us, even when we don’t immediately notice it.

In church life, we are called to be a community not just in joyful moments, but also in times when someone is silently struggling.

Reminder:

To Do:
When you feel alone, try one small step today:
-Send a simple message to someone you trust
-Spend a quiet moment in prayer, even if it’s just a few words
-Or check on someone else who might also be feeling the same way

Sometimes, connection begins with a small step, a small tap on shoulder.
And sometimes, you reaching out or someone reaching out to you—can make the heaviness a little lighter.

Closing of ECY NYD Formation 2026 | Rite of Commissioning
Santa Maria Parish Church | April 12, 2026

As we close the ECY NYD Formation 2026, we carry with us a message that deeply moved our hearts, a message of mercy, of mission, and of hope.

Guided by the words of Archbishop Midyphil Billones, we were brought to a question many of us silently carry:
“Where is God in all of this?”

In a world filled with conflict, pain, and uncertainty, it is easy to feel that God is distant. We are used to seeing power in strength, in victory, in force. But we were reminded of a truth that challenges everything we thought we knew:

“The greatest power of God is revealed in His mercy.”

Through the story of suffering, doubt, and even the witness of saints, we came to see that God is never absent. Like Thomas, we carry wounds, questions, and moments of disbelief. Yet Christ does not reject us in our doubt, He meets us there.

“He did not give an explanation. He showed His wounds… the marks of mercy.”

And in that encounter, everything changes.

From doubt to faith.
From fear to surrender.
From brokenness to hope.

As the homily led us into the Rite of Commissioning, the message became a mission.

The call of Alleluia echoed through the Church, and with it came a youthful yes, a response of courage, generosity, and trust. One by one, the new leaders of the Jaro Archdiocesan Youth Commission stepped forward, offering not just their names, but their lives in service.

Their candles were lit from the Paschal candle, the light of the Risen Christ.

A quiet but powerful reminder,
the same light that conquered darkness is now entrusted to them.

“May the light you carry never be extinguished by fear or doubt.”

In that sacred moment, we witnessed more than a ceremony. We witnessed a sending.

A generation called to be rooted in mercy, to radiate compassion, and to be ready to serve.
A generation entrusted to bring light into homes, communities, and the lives of young people searching for hope.

And as we go forth from this formation, one truth remains:

“May mercy and love be stronger than hatred and pain.”

This is our mission.
This is our call.
This is our yes.

Talk 3: Fraternity as a Bond of Peace
by Manong Miko Elaurza | 3rd Floor, Archdiocesan Pastoral Center, Santa Maria Parish Church |April 12, 2026

This session felt like coming home.

We were reminded that we are not meant to walk alone. Just like Jesus, who chose to live in community, we too are called to journey with others bound not by blood, but by love and mission.

There was something comforting in realizing that our place in the youth ministry often began with someone who welcomed us, walked with us, and made us feel that we belong. And in that sense of belonging, we grow stronger together.

The image of the burning bush stayed deeply in our hearts burning with passion, yet never consumed. It reminded us that when Christ is at the center, our fire will not fade. Our strength will not run out. Our community will endure.

We are called to be a generation that builds peacethrough unity, through love, through choosing to stay connected even when it is difficult.

Because in the end, it is simple but powerful:

From friendship, we are sent on mission.
From mission, we build fraternity.
And in fraternity, we become instruments of peace.

We are not just part of the Church.
We are God’s gift of peace to the world.

Talk 2: Witnesses Therefore Missionaries

3rd Floor, Archdiocesan Pastoral Center, Santa Maria Parish Church | April 11, 2026

Today’s session was a heartfelt reminder that faith is never lived without sacrifice, but always grounded in love that serves.

We were moved to realize that before we are missionaries, we are first called to be witnesses—people who have truly encountered God in both joy and pain, in strength and in struggle. And in all of it, we are never alone.

Jesus meets us in our weakness, stays with us in our silence, and turns even our suffering into something meaningful.

From this encounter, we are sent.

Not to stay comfortable in faith, but to live it out:
in our words, in our choices, in our homes, and even in our everyday online lives.

Mission is not a task. It is a way of living.

For us youth, it means choosing honesty when it is easier to lie, choosing hope when everything feels heavy, and choosing light even in moments of darkness.

We are not sent because we are perfect, but because we are loved and trusted.

And somehow, that truth makes everything clearer:
our lives are meant to speak of Christ.

Going back to Galilee reminds me that faith begins not in duty, but in friendship with Jesus. In every simple and organic encounter, He meets me, walks with me, and calls me His friend.

Christian life is not a performance. It is love in motion, a relationship that deepens each day. Even in struggles, He remains steady and present.

Christ is alive in me, with me, and through me, and that is why I choose to witness. Your friendship with Jesus becomes your everything.

In the quiet and ordinary moments, He is already there, closer than we think, not waiting for perfect prayers but for honest hearts. In listening, in stillness, and in the rhythm of daily life, friendship with Him slowly grows.

Because we are rooted in Him, we find courage, hope, identity, and mission. We are not called to perform, but to belong, and from that belonging, to witness.

Let your life speak gently yet boldly, a living witness of a real friendship with Jesus.

YOUth mind matters | takot ka ba sa sarili mong multo?

Sometimes the things that trouble us the most are not in front of us, but behind us—our past mistakes, regrets, failures, or choices we wish we could change.

We may carry memories that still make us uncomfortable or ashamed. We sometimes feel like those moments continue to follow us, like shadows we cannot escape.

But our faith reminds us that the past does not define the future God is preparing for us. In the life of the Church, we are constantly reminded of mercy, forgiveness, and renewal. Growth often begins when we learn to face our past not with fear, but with humility and hope.

Reminder: The “Multo” of the past are not there to scare you forever.
Sometimes they are reminders of how much you have grown :) keep that in mind. Your past can teach you lessons, but it does not have the power to decide who you are becoming today.

To Do:
Take a quiet moment and think of one experience from your past that still weighs on you. Ask yourself:
-What lesson did this experience teach me?
-How has it helped me grow or change?

Then try this simple step:
Write down one thing you learned from that moment and offer it in prayer. Let it become a reminder not of fear, but of the growth that is still possible.
