THE VOICE THAT MATTERS THE MOST
Text: 1 Samuel 3
I. WHY CAN’T WE HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD?
1. We Are Distracted
• Life gets loud.
• Problems, worldly attractions, deadlines, responsibilities — these voices compete for our attention.
• We hear everything except God.
• But prayer is communication with the one true God — if we don’t talk to Him, how can we hear Him?
2. We Don’t Make Time for Prayer
• Many people struggle to pray even one hour.
• The quietest time to pray is often 1:00–3:00 AM — when the world sleeps, the spirit becomes sensitive.
• If we don’t seek God, we won’t hear Him.
• How can God answer prayers we never pray?
II. THE CALL OF GOD: THE STORY OF SAMUEL AND ELI
• Samuel heard God’s voice, but he didn’t recognize it at first.
• Eli guided him to respond correctly: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.”
• Unlike many, Eli was ready and familiar with how God speaks.
• The question is: Are we ready when God calls?
• God speaks, but not everyone listens.
III. WHAT THE WORD SAYS, WE MUST DO
1. Following God Doesn’t Remove Problems
• When we obey God, challenges still come.
• Overthinking, worry, and doubts often try to drown God’s voice.
2. We Doubt Ourselves
• We feel unworthy, unprepared, or unsure.
• But God doesn’t call the qualified — He qualifies the called.
3. Listen Carefully
• God speaks through His Word, through people, through circumstances.
• The problem is not God’s silence — it’s our selective hearing.
4. Trust God Regardless of Your Status
• Your background, mistakes, or situation do NOT disqualify you.
• God’s plan always has purpose — trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense.
CONCLUSION
Matthew 28:19 — “Go therefore and make disciples…”
• God speaks so we can respond.
• God calls so we can obey.
• God directs so we can move.
• The voice that matters the most is calling — will you listen?
