THE SEVEN GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

WISDOM helps us recognize the importance of others and the importance of keeping God central in our lives.

UNDERSTANDING is the ability to comprehend the meaning of God's message.

KNOWLEDGE is the ability to think about and explore God's revelation, and also to recognize there are mysteries of faith beyond us.

COUNSEL is the ability to see the best way to follow God's plan when we have choices that relate to him.

FORTITUDE is the courage to do what one knows is right.

PIETY helps us pray to God in true devotion.

FEAR OF GOD is the feeling of amazement before God, who is all-present, and whose friendship we do not want to lose.

MAY 24 | SOLEMNITY OF PENTECOST

Today is Solemnity of Pentecost, PENTECOST comes from the Greek word “Pentecoste” meaning 50th day. Pentecost Sunday is one of the most prominent feast days in the Christian calendar. It is often referred to as the “BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH”.

It marks the day when the HOLY SPIRIT descended upon the Apostles, who had been living in fear for fifty days following the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.

On Pentecost, the HOLY SPIRIT came down visibly on the Apostles. He gave them the power to speak in strange tongues to the crowds that came to Jerusalem for that Feast. He also transformed them, from selfish and timid men into giants of courage and faith.

In his Message for the 60th World Day of Social Communications, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that communication is not merely about technology, but about the dignity of the human person. Our voices and faces are sacred gifts from God, reflecting His love and calling us into authentic relationship with one another.

As artificial intelligence and digital media continue to shape society, the Holy Father calls everyone to use these tools with responsibility, wisdom, and discernment. He urges us not to surrender our humanity, creativity, and critical thinking to machines, but instead to preserve truth, authentic relationships, and the dignity of every person in the digital age.

May we become responsible communicators of truth, charity, and hope, using media not to divide, but to build communion rooted in Christ.
