Misa De Gallo refers to the early morning masses traditionally held before dawn, while Simbang Gabi refers to the evening masses that have become more common in modern times.

December 16 marks the beginning of this cherished Filipino tradition leading up to December 24, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. ๐ŸŒŸ Joining together in nine dawn masses, Misa De Gallo or Simbang Gabi is a time of joyful anticipation, reflection, and spiritual preparation for the joyous Christmas season. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโœจ

On this day, December 8, we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Honoring Mary's conception without sin because the Immaculate Conception reminds us that if we cooperate with God's grace, as did the Blessed Virgin Mary, we can lead a life as free from sin as is humanly possible. Together, let us take time to reminisce on this holy day. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’™

โ€œLET THE EARTH BREATHE: MANGROVE PLANTING PROJECTโ€ ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’™

This project aims to encourage mangrove planting activities in our organization; to educate the youth about the importance of mangroves in our environment and promote ongoing efforts to engage the youth in climate action and environmental justice. The theme itself: โ€œLet the Earth Breatheโ€ is inspired by the movements and campaigns which recently went viral on social media when scientists were pushing to inform the people of how dire the climate crisis is. This project will be spearheaded by the young ladies of the Junior Catholic Womenโ€™s League Archdiocese of Jaro and will be part of that movement.

For every Php. 15.00 that you DONATE (via GCash), you will be able to plant ONE mangrove seedling which will help communities, promote mangrove restoration and become part of the environmental movement.

As the world is progressively identifying the critical role of blue carbon ecosystems to mitigate negative impacts of climate change, more attention is given to restoration and conservation of mangrove forests. We believe in the power of youth to create lasting change that will help decrease emissions into the atmosphere. We cannot live on a burning planet.

Why Mangroves?

Mangroves act as a natural carbon sink and a buffer between land and sea, protecting shorelines by preventing coastal erosion and providing storm surge protection. Mangrove forests capture greenhouse gas mangrove forests are 5x faster than tropical rainforests at capturing greenhouse gas, they grow fast and maintain water quality and clarity, filtering pollutants and trapping sediments originating from land.

Alongside these benefits, mangroves contribute to restoring and protecting the biodiversity of marine and coastal ecosystems by providing feeding, breeding, as well as safe nursing grounds, habitats, nesting, and migratory sites for many aquatic species, birds, and other fauna; species. The conservation and restoration of mangroves are linked to achieving multiple global goals including several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The proposed project is expected to predominantly address six SDGs: SDG1 (No poverty), SDG2 (Zero Hunger), SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG13 (Climate Action), SDG14 (Life below Water), and SDG15 (Life on Land). We believe this will provide young people the opportunity to build their capacities and conceptualize ideas into implementable models to initiate climate action.

The mangrove planting project will take place at Katunggan EcoPark in Leganes.

OUR GOAL: Our goal is to plant more than (estimated) 300 mangroves within the assigned area, learn from the experience, educate ourselves and become part of the youth movement that is willing to make a change for our environment.

"Small actions, when done together could create a big change."

LIFE GOES ON: A RELIEF GOOD CAMPAIGN OPERATION FOR THE VICTIMS OF BAGYO AGATON | April 23, 2022 ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’—

The Junior Catholic Women's League (CWL) Gathered and repacked foods, clothing, rice, necessities, goods and many more to be given to the victims of bagyo Agaton. The gathering and repacking took place at La Paz Parish where the members of the Jr. CWL coming from different units (of Bingawan, Jaro, La Paz, San Joaquin and Balabago) volunteered and helped.

Like they say, "alone we can do so little; together we can do so much". In line with this, we the Jr. CWL Archdiocese of Jaro would like to thank everyone who donated, reached out, took initiative and shared their blessings to us. Without you, we wouldn't be able to make this possible!

We would also like to thank Rev. Fr. Joenick Territorio for allowing us to repack in their humble and accommodating Parish of La Paz.

And Msgr. Meliton Oso (Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center Inc.) for accepting our donation to help those in need.

The young ladies of the Jr. CWL proved that through our org's motto: charity, work & loyalty we could do greater things, carry heavy loads, and help others in need with the best of our abilities and talents.

God bless everyone!
