Panay Mission Trip Report

“It is my very first mission trip and I experience renewed sense of purpose in serving the Lord. God truly restored the joy and laughter in my life through working with new found friends sharing thesame passion in ministry, through meeting people I never heared of, and through sharing the greatest news and gift of Salvation. Overall the trip was nothing short of amazing and life changing moments I encountered more than I gave. God was truly present in the mission trip and through incredible faith of people in Isla Gigantes. Will be joining the another mission trip soon!”- Mission Trip Participant

Day 3: Nothing Without Love

Team started for a morning devotion by 6:30 AM led by Pastor Eden Rei ER Babao and quickly followed by a breakfast before we leave Granada COTN for Danao2 COTN . While in Danao2 COTN,the team quickly started to work on the church floorings led by Chester and Wesley who are both well skilled in this area. Other members like Ptr. Eden Rei, RJ,Ramel,Joms,Gideon,Melchor and Ptr Carl help in making cement mixtures for the flooring while the girls led by Jeca,Cypress and Girle gather the kids and teens in the area. Pastor Elsid on the other hand was so busy with his wifi connection just to provide update to his workplace and his family since internet connection was so rare to find. By 12 noon, the team finish the floorings and cant wait to eat unli crabs,scallops, squid, buko juice prepared by the church members. By 2PM, the team decided to start the scheduled visitation to nearby church members and we are so blessed that be able to have short but meaningful conversations with them. We are able to talk to Marge(not her real name) who was honest to admit that she backslide from her faith because of her husband but quickly rekindled her faith as we told her that God isnt finished with her yet and that God didnt come to judge but to save. We pervently pray for her together with her 2 children and invited to join for Sunday Service which she was able to attend to. On the other hand,the team also have an opportunity to visit a member with a depressing situation from illness to illness and death after death of her beloved family members. Pastor Elsid give confirmation and God’s healing and speak prayer of blessings to the damily before we departed. We capped our Danao2 COTN with a realization that no greater love can able to heal and mend all things that was broken by evil spirit but it is only God who is the source of all Goodness that exudes perfect love that is so powerful that. an able to heal,mend,and bring perfect peace and liberation. At 5PM we went to Lantangan COTN an adjacent barangay from Danao2 where we meet family of Pastor Connie and for the first time, was able to appreciate the majestic mountain of Boluevard with Chester,Wesley,Joms,RJ,Ramel and Melchor did climb and conquer. So were is Gideon,Pastor Elsid,Girle and Jeca? Lets just say they had thier fill at Pastor Calsa’s house😛

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

Day 2- The Beautiful Feet

We started our day early in the morning at around 5AM as we gathered in Culasi Church of the Nazarene(COTN). The group is composed of 13 energitic,l young professionals with varrying expertise like teachers, accountant, farmers,pastors, businessman, field coordinator,AV technicians, and support specialist. We traveled going to Estancia COTN and made a quick stop to meet and greet Pastora Leni Piolo. There we waited for a few minutes until Pastor Christian Calsa and Pastor Sandy Aguilar pick us up at Pa-on Port then going to Langingot COTN to meet Pastor Elmer. Upon arriving, we quickly assembled and tested 4 Electric Industrial Wall Fan that were donated by various professionals in Panay District to the Lagingot COTN. We had our sumptuos breakfast prepared by the members of the church at around 9AM and quickly capped our visit at Langingot COTN by praying for them as we headed next to Granada COTN.

After 2 hours and of humdy dumpy rides and countles times that Ptr Elsid, Joms,Jeca, and Girle Ann was showered with water as the strong waves hits the boat from time to time and then we arrived at Granada COTN and was warmly welcomed by the members. We immediately took our yet another sumptuous lunch prepared by members. By 2PM Pastor Eden Rei,Pastor Carl, Joms stared to assemble and fined tuned the drum set that was donated by Nazarene Professionals in Panay District while Wesley and Chester who are expert in AV repairs was able to check and repair some of the sound system and base guitar of the Church. While doing all that other team started to walk going to another side of the Island for the outreach mission. Girlie and Cypress took the lead to gather all young teens, Jeca Dela Cruz lead the kids ministry,Pastor ElsidRJ,Ramel and melchor lead a bible study with the adult while Gideon Hilarde, Ptr Calsa and Pastor Aguilar went house to house to greet other members of the church and gave a copy of a Bible to remind them of God’s unending love and promises. We capped various ministry by 4PM by providing a copy of OK Bible in Partnership with OneBody.PH. The team went back to Granada Church by 5PM for preparation of evening service.

Romans 10:13-15

“For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!'”

Panay Mission Trip Day 1- The Commisioning

3PM of August 25,2022 Thursday at Culasi COTN, Mission Trip members gather and celebrated a short Commissioning service led by DS Medanny Punsalan that clearly highlight the importance of WORK and MISSION to both professional life and spiritual life. He emphasized the value of work to fulfillment of God’s ultimate purpose to human existence and Mission as a way of realizing God’s Love made present to every Christian Life. All Mission Trip members was so blessed and capped the service by singing “FILL US UP,SEND US OUT!” as a confirmation of unending hunger for Mission

Calling all Professionals who has a heart for Mission to join our very first upcoming Panay Mission Trip in Isla Gigantes. There will be series of manual labors for Church Repairs and community immersions as well. Slots are limited to 30 participants with 10 members coming from Panay and 20 slots was already reserved for Professionals outside Panay including Bicol, Cebu and Metro Manila. Please let me know if you are interested. We are long praying for this and finally, God answered. Will you be the ONE? See you!
