𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐃𝐀𝐘, 𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀! ✨🌹
Today, the 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 celebrates the 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲—the Mother of our Savior, the mother who gave her faithful yes to God and His divine plan. The “𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝” among God’s creatures, Mary was conceived and born 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞.
The 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 states that Mary came from the lineage of 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐦, the tribe of 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐡, and the family of 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝. From this lineage came Jesus Christ, the 𝐒𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝, who became man through the power of the 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 to deliver humanity from the bo***ge of sin.
Mary was chosen to become the 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭, the spiritual mother of all people, and the 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡. Through her, God’s grace reaches humanity: those who do not yet believe are led toward faith, those who suffer find comfort and mercy, and Christians are helped to become more like Christ. In Mary, 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 through God’s saving work.
The celebration of Mary’s birth began in 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐦 during the sixth century and was associated with the dedication of the 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐞, traditionally believed to have been built at the place where Mary was born. By the seventh century, the feast was also celebrated in 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞. Its observance eventually contributed to establishing the date for the Feast of the 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Together with the birthdays of Jesus and 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭, Mary’s nativity is celebrated as a joyful event in the history of salvation.
𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓
Bestow on your servants, Lord, this gift of grace,
that we whose salvation took its beginning
in the birth of your Son from the Virgin Mary
may find in this celebration of her nativity
an increase in the gift of your peace.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
