"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!" — Isaiah 6:8

A proud moment for the Parish of St. Raphael the Archangel!⛪️🌟

We celebrate our youth from the Ministry of the Altar Servers who successfully passed the St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary Entrance Examination. Your courage to answer the call inspires us all.

Let us continue to pray for them as they prepare for their upcoming 3-Day Search-In. May the Holy Spirit guide their hearts! 🙌

As the Lenten season begins, Parish of Saint Raphael the Archangel invites the community to observe Ash Wednesday on February 18, 2026. This sacred day marks a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, a comprehensive schedule of Masses and services has been organized across the parish, including the main Parish Church, various local chapels, and several elementary and high schools. We encourage everyone to come together in faith to receive the ashes and begin this spiritual journey.

In addition to attending service, we are called to observe the fasting and abstinence. For those aged 18 to 59, fasting involves consuming only one full meal and two smaller meals that do not exceed the main meal's size. Furthermore, those aged 14 and older are asked to abstain from eating meat—including the flesh and organs of mammals and birds—though fish and shellfish remain permitted. By embracing these small sacrifices, we refocus our hearts on prayer and preparation for the resurrection of Christ.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, a beautiful reminder of the moment Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem. Also known as Candlemas, this day honors Christ as the "Light to the nations," a truth famously proclaimed by the elderly Simeon as he held the Savior in his arms.

Just as the Holy Family offered Jesus to the Father, we are invited to offer our own lives and intentions to God, seeking the grace to carry His light into the world. May this feast day renew our faith and fill our hearts with the same hope and joy experienced by Simeon and Anna upon meeting the Lord.

VIVA LA VIRGEN! 🕯️✨

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, the beloved patroness of Jaro and all of Western Visayas.

Did you know this miraculous image has a history as heavy—and as light—as grace itself? Found in the Iloilo River in 1587, tradition says she was too heavy to lift until the fishermen decided her home should be Jaro. From a small "foot-sized" image found by the river to a miraculous figure that outgrew her original niche, her presence continues to grow in the hearts of the faithful.

History was truly made on February 21, 1981, when Pope Saint John Paul II personally crowned her—making her the only Marian image in the Philippines crowned by a Pope and a Saint.

May her light guide us always. Happy Feast Day!🕯️✨
