QUID NUNC?
Catechetical Video Presentation 1

Kag ginhuyupan Niya sila kag nagsiling:

Kita Simbahan nga buhi, nagapanglakaton, kag padayon nga ginapabag-o sang Espiritu Santo.

“Ang bugay nga pundasyon, aton handurawon;
sinodanhong pagpanglakaton, aton padayunon.”

JARO@75: Quid Nunc?
Ano na subong?
Diin kita ginadala sang Ginoo?

Parish of the Holy Child
Lemery, Iloilo
Archdiocese of Jaro

In this beautiful season of Flores de Mayo, we gather with joyful hearts to honor Mama Mary, our loving Mother, whose life became a radiant reflection of God’s tender and faithful love.

Mary teaches us that true love is patient, humble, gentle, and always ready to serve. Through her faithful “yes” to God, she welcomed Jesus into the world and became a mother not only to Christ, but also to all of us. Her loving heart continues to embrace every family, every child, every youth, and every soul longing for comfort, peace, and hope.

Like the flowers we lovingly offer at her altar, may our lives also become beautiful offerings to God and to one another. May every prayer, every sacrifice, every act of kindness, and every simple gesture of love reflect the compassionate and caring heart of Mama Mary.

As we celebrate Flores de Mayo, may the Blessed Virgin Mary teach us how to love more deeply, forgive more sincerely, and serve more generously. In moments of sorrow, may she comfort us with a mother’s embrace. In moments of fear and uncertainty, may she gently lead us closer to Jesus, the source of true peace and lasting joy.

May Our Lady continue to guide and protect the Parish of the Holy Child, all families, catechists, youth, and devotees. Through her loving intercession, may our hearts always remain faithful, hopeful, and filled with Christ-like love.

“O my soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”
— Luke 1:46–47

🌸 Flores de Mayo – DAY 24 🌸
Ikaduha ka Napulo kag Apat nga Adlaw sang Flores

SI MARIA, MODELO SANG PAGTUO
Isa ka Iloy nga Nagatuo Bisan Wala Makakita

Katekesis:

💖 “Maria, buligi ako nga magtuo pareho sang imo.”

Kon kita nagaampo kag nagapamati sa Pulong sang Dios, nagakusog ang aton pagtuo adlaw-adlaw.

🌸 Padayon kita sa pagtuon kag pagpalalom sang aton pagtuo sini nga Flores de Mayo! 🌸

QUID NUNC?
What now after Pentecost?

In Acts 2, after the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, the Church was moved from fear to mission. Peter stood with the Eleven and proclaimed Christ with courage. The people who heard him were “cut to the heart” and asked: “What are we to do?” (Acts 2:37)

Peter answered: “Repent and be baptized… and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

As we launch Jaro@75, we ask the same question: Quid nunc? What now?

Now we renew our faith.
Now we walk together as one Church.
Now we form communities rooted in prayer, communion, and mission.
Now we proclaim Christ with courage, joy, and love.

Jaro@75 is not only a celebration of years. It is a call to mission. Like the apostles at Pentecost, we are sent by the Holy Spirit to witness to Christ in our families, parishes, schools, and communities.

Quid nunc?
Filled with the Holy Spirit, we go forth.
We remember with gratitude.
We celebrate with faith.
We move forward in mission.

Come, Holy Spirit, renew the Church of Jaro and send us to proclaim Christ.

Set on Fire

They were gathered in one place.
Waiting. Praying. Unsure of what would come next.

Then suddenly, a sound came from heaven like a strong driving wind. Tongues as of fire rested upon them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.”
(Acts 2:4)

Fear was changed into courage.
Silence became proclamation.
Closed rooms became open roads.
Ordinary disciples became bold witnesses.

This is Pentecost:
the Holy Spirit descending,
the Church awakened,
the Gospel proclaimed to the world.

Today, the same Spirit calls us:

Rise.
Speak.
Witness.
Go forth.

May the Holy Spirit set our hearts on fire and send us to proclaim Jesus Christ with courage, joy, and love.

Come, Holy Spirit. Fill us and send us.

Is Pentecost really the “birthday of the Church”?

Pentecost is often called the “birthday of the Church,” but in the strict sense, the Church was born from the Paschal Mystery of Christ, especially from His total self-giving on the Cross.

The Catechism teaches that “the Church is born primarily of Christ’s total self-giving for our salvation” and that this was fulfilled on the Cross. This is symbolized by the blood and water flowing from the pierced side of Jesus.

At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the apostles. The Catechism teaches that on that day, the Church was “openly displayed to the crowds” and was “made manifest to the world” by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost, therefore, is the public manifestation of the Church: the moment when the Holy Spirit empowered the apostles to proclaim the Gospel with courage and begin the mission entrusted by Christ.

The Church was born from the Paschal Mystery of Christ; at Pentecost, she was revealed and sent forth by the Holy Spirit.

Come, Holy Spirit, renew the Church and strengthen us for mission.

Pentecost Sunday

John 20:22-23
“Receive the Holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained.”

On Pentecost, we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit, who brings peace, courage, forgiveness, and mission to the Church.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts and renew the face of the earth.

Topic 1: The Paschal Mystery and Christian Worship

Facilitator:
Rev. Fr. Lester Villa
Director, Commission on Liturgy

WCC Cycle B invites catechists into a deeper journey of faith centered on the Sacraments and prayer. Our first session reflects on the Paschal Mystery: the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ, the heart of Christian worship and sacramental life.

Participants will reflect on the Paschal Mystery as the center of Christian worship, the beauty of the liturgy and Sacraments, prayer as communion with God, and the mission of catechists in forming prayerful communities.
