Love in Action - BCBP Lapaz Cares, turns over equipment and cash for livelihood project
BCBP Lapaz, motivated by Love and Service to the less fortunate, marked a step forward in uplifting economic sustenance and empowerment of its beneficiary communities with the turn-over of refrigerator/equipment and cash for the Gulayan and Fishpond sa Paaralan projects of Barangay Calmay in Janiuay, Iloilo that took place on February 12, 2024 at Calmay Elementary School.
The activity was part of BCBP La Pazโ Handog sa Komunidad (Offering to the Community) Program that aimed to provide and support its beneficiary communities with needed resources to thrive, grow and sustain in their projects to improve their economic status. Earlier this month, Barangays Ticud, La Paz and Barangay Leong(Aeta Settlement), Cabatuan were also beneficiaries of the endeavor that were funded from excess proceeds of the NAC 43 raffle draw.
This initiative was a remarkable success with the collaboration of St. Paul University Iloilo Community Extension Services, Calmay Elementary School and the Calmay community officials and residents themselves.
The event was graced by representatives from BCBP led by Rex Debuque, BCBP Regional Council Director, Pat Pudadera, BCBP La Paz Chapter Head, Joseph Teruel, BCBP NAC 43 Chairman, Ways and Means Committee along with Samuel Convocar, Principal, Calmay Elementary School, Sr. Teresita Baricaua, President, St. Paul University, SPUI CES Coordinator Yolly Santacera, St. Paul University, Dulce Ma. Tilos, Dean, College of Nursing-SPUI, Lucia Lamanero, District Supervisor, DEP-Ed, Janiuay, Iloilo, and James Bermejo, SB Member for Paulino Parian, Mayor, January, Iloilo.
The inspiring messages of the speakers emphasized on the importance of sustainability and collaborative efforts of the project partners for the betterment of the community and for the
beneficiaries to nurture the opportunities laid to them for their growth and prosperity.
The community expressed their gratitude for the guidance of the agencies involved and unwavering support from the BCBP.
