The Advent season, which begins four Sundays before Christmas, is a time of preparation and anticipation for Catholics. It is a period of reflection on the coming of Jesus Christ, both as an infant in Bethlehem and as the Second Coming at the end of time. During Advent, Catholics focus on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as a way to purify their souls and prepare for the celebration of Christ's birth. The season is marked by special liturgies, including the lighting of the Advent wreath and the singing of traditional Advent hymns. Overall, Advent is a time for Catholics to deepen their faith, renew their commitment to Christ, and look forward to the joy and hope that comes with the celebration of Christmas.

Gospel Reflection on Sunday of the 25th Week in Ordinary Time πŸ™πŸΌβœοΈβ€οΈ

Matthew 20:1-16 teaches us about the grace and generosity of God. The parable depicts workers being paid the same wage, regardless of the amount of time they worked, implying that God's rewards are not determined by our efforts alone, but by His mercy and goodness. It also challenges our societal norms, encouraging us to embrace diversity and reject the idea that some are more deserving of our love and attention than others. Through this passage, we are reminded of God's abundant blessings and reminded to share them with others, regardless of what they may or may not have done to earn them.

Friday of the 34th Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel Reflection

Luke 8:1-3 shows the role of women in Jesus' ministry. It highlights how women were not only followers of Jesus but also played an active part in supporting him financially. The list of women mentioned in these verses suggests that Jesus had a diverse group of followers, including women from different backgrounds and social statuses. This passage serves as a reminder that the ministry of Jesus was not just for men but included women as well, and their contributions were just as critical. It challenges us to recognize the importance and value of women in ministry and to empower them to participate fully.

Friday of the 24th Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel Reflection
Luke 8:1-3 illustrates the importance of female discipleship in Jesus' ministry. Jesus welcomed and affirmed women as part of his community, challenging the patriarchal norms of his time. This passage also highlights the role of these women in financially supporting Jesus and his ministry, questioning the assumption that women are less capable of leadership and material contribution than men. As followers of Jesus, we must also affirm the value and leadership of women in our communities and work towards gender equality.

Memorial of St. Andrew Kim Tae-gon, Priest, Paul Chong Hasang and Companions, Martyrs

St. Andrew Kim Tae-gon, a Korean priest, and Paul Chong Hasang and their fellow martyrs were commemorated on September 20. Kim Tae-gon, the first Korean-born Catholic priest, was executed in 1846 after evangelizing and baptizing thousands of Koreans amid a brutal persecution of Christians. Among the 103 Korean martyrs canonized in 1984, Chong Hasang is known for his courage in continuing to minister to the faith community despite being under surveillance by the authorities. The martyrs' sacrifice continues to inspire and nurture the Korean Catholic Church today.

As the day draws to a close, the sun gently dips below the horizon, casting a warm and ethereal light across the land. The sky, once a bright blue canvas, now turns shades of pink, orange, and purple, illuminating the clouds and creating a serene atmosphere. The landscape glows, with shadows lengthening and trees silhouetted against the stunning display of color. As the last rays of sun fade, a sense of tranquility settles in. The world seems to slow down, offering a chance to reflect on the beauty that surrounds us.
Good evening to everyone.
