FEAST DAY OF BLESSED MICHAEL J. McGIVNEY
August 13 | Founder of the Knights of Columbus

Today, we joyfully celebrate the feast day of Blessed Michael J. McGivney, a faithful priest, servant of God, and founder of the Knights of Columbus.

Born from his deep love for God and concern for Catholic families, Father McGivney envisioned a brotherhood where Catholic men could support one another in faith, strengthen their families, serve their parishes, and extend a helping hand to those in need. His vision became the foundation of a worldwide fraternity built upon the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.

As brother Knights, may we never forget the mission and legacy entrusted to us by our founder. May his example inspire us to become better husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, and faithful servants of the Church. May we continue to live out our Catholic faith not only through our prayers, but also through acts of charity, compassion, and service to our communities.

On this special day, may we ask Blessed Michael J. McGivney to intercede for all Knights of Columbus, our families, our parish communities, and all those whom we serve. May he guide us in remaining faithful to our vocation as Catholic gentlemen and encourage us to continue building a stronger brotherhood rooted in Christ.

Let us also pray for his canonization, that the Church may soon recognize him as a saint and that his life and example may continue to inspire generations of Catholics throughout the world.

Blessed Michael J. McGivney, pray for us. Intercede for our families and our brother Knights .Guide us in faith, charity, unity, and fraternity.

May God grant your canonization according to His holy will.

Message of Patrick Kelly, Supreme Knight (2026 Supreme Convention)

"More than 2.2 million men now count themselves as Knights of Columbus. Last year, we welcomed more than 105,000 new members. That’s the most growth we’ve had in more than a century."

Every person’s duty to worship God freely is the true foundation of religious liberty and that Catholics are called to bear witness to the truth that every person is created in the image and likeness of God.

“As Catholics, we understand that the Most Blessed Trinity revealed through the Incarnation of Jesus Christ is the God in whom we trust, and who we trust to guide the destiny of our nations,” the past supreme knight said. “This is where the spiritual genius of Blessed Michael McGivney shines brightly. Our brotherhood gives us countless opportunities to make the love of Christ present through our fraternal work of charity and unity.”

As the 144th Supreme Convention comes to a close, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this week so special.

To the thousands of Knights, families, clergy, volunteers, staff, and guests who gathered in Denver, thank you for your faith, service, and fraternity. To everyone who joined us through the livestreams and followed along on social media, thank you for being part of the convention from wherever you are.

Together, we celebrated our shared mission, honored remarkable service, prayed together, and looked ahead with hope.

Please continue to pray for the Knights of Columbus, that we may remain united in Christ and faithful to our mission of charity, unity, and fraternity in the year ahead.
