Episode 4 of Gospel Freedom: Complete In Him entitled: "The Hope of Glory" a documentary series on biblical salvation.
In this episode, we expound upon the purpose of the gospel, the external written Word, the internal Living Word, regeneration, the Holy Spirit, repentance, obedience, and the sinner-saint reality. Can Christians commit grievous sins? Can they live in secret sin? Is it our responsibility to identify the 'fakers'? What does God's Word reveal about salvation and our role in it?
Works-based notions inevitably lead believers to one of two outcomes: a life of pride and hypocrisy or one of ineffectiveness and despair. When our theology fails to maintain a clear Law-Gospel distinction, it paves the way for leadership abuse and a host of other deeply troubling issues within the Church of Jesus Christ.
What does Paul mean by the phrase, "Faith comes by hearing"? Many interpret this verse to suggest that regeneration occurs at the moment an individual receives the gospel. However, throughout the book of Romans, Paul presents several arguments that appear to challenge this idea. If that is the case, what is Paul truly conveying with this statement? Moreover, what implications does the book of Romans hold for our understanding of salvation?
A person’s reception of the written Word is an echo of their prior reception of the Living Word, Who, with the same life-giving authority, spoke creation into existence. Just as He commanded Lazarus to rise from the grave, He calls the soul of the elect out of spiritual death, bestowing upon them eternal life. Then, and only then, can a man understand and believe the gospel, and repent of their sins. This divine action not only enables their reception of the gospel but also makes them partakers of the divine nature.

May we once again rest in the finished work of Christ and return to Him His rightful title as the Author and Finisher of our faith.
