We Miss you, Lolo Kiko 🤍🕊️
YOU ARE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS🤍

Today, we remember the passing of our beloved Lolo Kiko—Pope Francis.

He brought the faith closer to people—not through grand words, but through simple acts of love, humility, and presence. He showed us a Church that listens, welcomes, and walks alongside everyone.

He had a special love for children and the youth, always encouraging them to hope and to dream. He embraced the vulnerable with compassion, reminding the world to care for the poor, the forgotten, and the broken. He also called us to protect our common home, teaching us to be responsible stewards of creation.

In uncertain times, he became a quiet source of hope, showing us that mercy and kindness must always lead.

Though he have gone ahead of us, your example remains alive in every act of love we choose each day. He stay with us—in our faith, in our actions, and in our hearts.

A joyful dawn unfolds as Mama Mary meets the Risen Christ—where sorrow turns into hope and mourning into celebration.

With the participation of the young angels and facilitated by the Catechist Apostolate/Ministry of St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral, this sacred tradition reminds us: He is risen, and with Him, new life begins.

𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐋𝐔𝐈𝐀! 𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐍!

In the sacred silence of the night, the Church gathered to celebrate the Easter Vigil—the mother of all vigils—presided over by our beloved Bishop, Most Rev. Jose R. Rapadas III, D.D., together with the Cathedral Parish Priests: Rev. Msgr. Alberto De Lara, Rev. Fr. Edward Labadisos, Rev. Fr. John Resty Oroyan, Rev. Fr. Rufill Quibranza, and Rev. Fr. Roger Lood.

The celebration accompanied through the four parts of the Vigil:
+The Liturgy of Light – where darkness was pierced by the light of the Paschal Candle, reminding us that Christ is our Light.
+The Liturgy of the Word – with four readings and responsorial psalms recounting God’s saving plan throughout history.
+The Liturgy of Baptism – calling us to renew our baptismal promises and embrace new life in Christ.
+The Liturgy of the Eucharist – the joyful culmination of our celebration in the risen Lord.

As the Gloria (Himaya sa Dios) resounded once more and the long-awaited Alleluia was proclaimed, the Church rejoiced in the victory of life over death.

In his homily, Bishop Rapadas reminded the faithful of the threefold “paglabang”: From darkness to light "Gikan sa kangitngit ngadto sa kahayag" — where Christ overcomes the fears, uncertainties, and struggles of our world; From death to new life "Gikan sa kamatayon ngadto bag-ong kinabuhi" — through Baptism, we are united as one Body of Christ, journeying together in communion and Synodality; From inward faith to missionary Church "Gikan sa pagkahilom (inward) nga simbahan ngadto sa simbahan nga dunay misyon" — called not to remain within, but to bring hope to those in the margins.

“Take your step—jump to the light of Christ.”

As we celebrate the Resurrection, may we become bearers of light and hope in a world longing for renewal. From darkness to light, from death to life, and from silence to mission—this is the joy of Easter.

GOOD FRIDAY | SOLEMN PROCESSION
St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral
Diocese of Iligan

One of the most moving moments of this Good Friday observance was the solemn procession of the Santo Entierro and Mater Dolorosa. Together, the resident priests, various parish ministries, and the faithful walked in prayerful silence—accompanying the lifeless body of Christ and the sorrowful Mother through the streets. This sacred tradition reflects the deep grief of the Church, as we remember the death of our Lord and share in the suffering of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The images of the Santo Entierro and Mater Dolorosa serve as powerful reminders of sacrifice, love, and unwavering faith even in the face of pain and loss.

“Standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother…” – John 19:25

As we journey in this solemn procession, may we learn to walk with Christ in His suffering and remain steadfast in faith, trusting that beyond the sorrow of the Cross lies the promise of resurrection.

GOOD FRIDAY | VENERATION OF THE HOLY CROSS
St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral
Diocese of Iligan

In the solemn celebration of Good Friday, the faithful gathered in deep reverence for the Veneration of the Holy Cross—a sacred moment that calls us to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Christ.

Presided over by the resident priests of the Cathedral, the liturgy invited parishioners into a profound encounter with the mystery of the Cross. One of the most momentous parts of the celebration was the act of veneration, where the faithful approached the crucifix with humility—kissing it as a sign of love, gratitude, and devotion.

“We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.”

In this simple gesture, we are reminded that the Cross is not a sign of defeat, but of victory—where suffering is transformed into salvation, and love is given without measure. May this act of veneration deepen our faith and draw us closer to the heart of Christ, who gave everything for us.

GOOD FRIDAY | SOLEMN STATIONS OF THE CROSS
St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral
Diocese of Iligan

In the quiet stillness of dawn, the faithful of St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral gathered for the Solemn Stations of the Cross, journeying through the city proper and the vicinity of the Cathedral—retracing the path of Christ’s suffering with prayerful hearts.

Led by the resident priests, Rev. Msgr. Alberto De Lara and Rev. Fr. John Resty Oroyan, this sacred devotion became a communal act of remembrance and reverence. In collaboration with the Lay Liturgical Ministers and the Lectorate Ministry, who served as readers in each station, the Passion of Christ was brought to life through voices filled with faith and devotion.

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24

On this Good Friday, we are reminded that the Cross is not merely a symbol of suffering, but of love—a love that endures pain, embraces sacrifice, and offers redemption. As we walk with Christ in His Passion, may we also learn to carry our own crosses with faith, humility, and hope in the promise of new life.
