The decision of one has impacted a whole chain of descendants. A legacy of faith has been broken.

Decisions of today will impact our future and the future of our family members.

In both cases, generations ahead of them are impacted, and blessings and promises that were reserved for their posterities are at risk.

"The atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ opens the door for 'all men [to] repent and come unto him' (Doctrine and Covenants 18:11; see also Mark 3:28; 1 Nephi 10:18; Alma 34:8, 16). The book of Alma reports repentance and forgiveness even of those who had been a wicked and a bloodthirsty people (see Alma 25:16; 27:27, 30). My message today is one of hope for all of us. ... We are all sinners who can be cleansed by repentance. 'To repent from sin is not easy,' Elder Russell M. Nelson taught in a prior general conference. 'But the prize is worth the price.'"

“Peter described the tempter in a striking metaphor: 'Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour' (1 Peter 5:8).

“I have thought of Peter’s comparing Lucifer to a roaring lion. A roaring lion in the zoo is dangerous, but only if we put ourselves inside the cage with him. Without our willingness, the power of the adversary is very limited.

"If we are pursuing a righteous course, we need not be overly concerned with the adversary’s influence. Nephi explained that 'he hath no power over the hearts of [those that] dwell in righteousness' (1 Nephi 22:26). He has no power to use against us unless we permit it. The Apostle James taught, 'Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you' (James 4:7)."

Jesus Christ said "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
-Matthew 11:28-30

He is aware of all our circumstances, He knows our pain and trials, He experienced everything in this world. Those who are in pain Jesus Christ can heal, just come unto Him.

There is a story told of an old Cherokee teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil: he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good: he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you—and inside every other person too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

A central part of our Father’s plan was that we would be free to choose. This gift is called agency, the power to choose. The companion of agency is always accountability. We are individually responsible for the choices we make...

One key purpose of our life on Earth is to prove our faithfulness (see Abraham 3:24–25 in the Pearl of Great Price). We have the ability to know right from wrong. We have the power given to us from God “to act … and not to be acted upon” (2 Nephi 2:26, The Book of Mormon). Ultimately, we will receive the kingdom that we desire according to the commandments we obey, the ordinances we receive, and the covenants we keep.

Just as the wise old Cherokee explained, it was up to him which wolf he fed. He had agency, and he alone would be accountable for his choice. He would have to live with the consequences of his choices.

Use your God-given agency wisely.

A man was asked to paint a boat. He brought his paint and brushes and began to paint the boat a bright red, as the owner asked him.

While painting, he noticed a small hole in the hull, and quietly repaired it.

When he finished painting, he received his money and left.

The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment for painting.

The painter was surprised and said “You've already paid me for painting the boat Sir!”

“But this is not for the paint job. It's for repairing the hole in the boat.”

“Ah! But it was such a small service... certainly it's not worth paying me such a high amount for something so insignificant.”

“My dear friend, you do not understand. Let me tell you what happened:

“When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the hole.

“When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip.

“They did not know that there was a hole. I was not at home at that time.

“When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was desperate because I remembered that the boat had a hole.

“Imagine my relief and joy when I saw them returning from fishing.

“Then, I examined the boat and found that you had repaired the hole!

“You see, now, what you did? You saved the life of my children! I do not have enough money to pay your 'small' good deed.”

So no matter who, when or how, continue to help, sustain, wipe tears, listen attentively, and carefully repair all the 'leaks' you find. You never know when one is in need of us, or when God holds a pleasant surprise for us to be helpful and important to someone.

Along the way, you may have repaired numerous 'boat holes' for several people without realizing how many lives you've save. ❤️

Make a difference . . be the best you . .

“[A] camel and his owner … were traveling across the desert sand dunes when a wind storm came up. The traveler quickly set up his tent and moved in, closing the flaps to protect himself from the cutting, grinding sands of the raging storm. The camel was of course left outside, and as the violent wind hurled the sand against his body and into his eyes and nostrils he found it unbearable and finally begged for entrance into the tent.

“‘There is room only for myself,’ said the traveler.

“‘But may I just get my nose in so I can breathe air not filled with sand?’ asked the camel.

“‘Well, perhaps you could do that,’ replied the traveler, and he opened the flap ever so little and the long nose of the camel entered. How comfortable the camel was now! But soon the camel became weary of the smarting sand on his eyes and ears … :

“‘The wind-driven sand is like a rasp on my head. Could I put just my head in?’

“Again, the traveler rationalized that to acquiesce would do him no damage, for the camel’s head could occupy the space at the top of the tent which he himself was not using. So the camel put his head inside and the beast was satisfied again—but for a short while only.

“‘Just the front quarters,’ he begged, and again the traveler relented and soon the camel’s front shoulders and legs were in the tent. Finally, by the same processes of pleading and of yielding, the camel’s torso, his hind quarters and all were in the tent. But now it was too crowded for the two, and the camel kicked the traveler out into the wind and storm.”

Moral of the Story:

"Serious sin enters into our lives as we yield first to little temptations.

It is important that we don't accomodate temptations even in the least degree (see Doctrine and Covenants 1:31). From the example of the Savior in Matthew 4:10-11, we must prevent sin rather than be faced with much more difficult task of curing it. Let us fortify ourselves against temptation rather than battling with it to conquer it.

“A story was told about some frogs who were killed without resistance by being boiled alive in the cauldron of water.

"Why didn’t they resist? Because when they were put in the cauldron, the water was tepid. Then the temperature was raised ever so slightly, and the water was warm, then a tiny bit warmer, then a bit warmer still, and on and on and on.

"The change was so gradual, almost imperceptible, that the frogs accommodated themselves to their new environment—until it was too late.

"The point of this story was not about frogs but about us and how we tend to accept evil as long as it is not a shock that is thrust on us abruptly. We are inclined to accept something morally wrong if it is only a shade more wrong than something we are already accepting.” (National Press Club Forum.)

"This gradual process was foretold by ancient prophets. Nephi tells us that the hearts of the children of men would be stirred up 'to anger against that which is good.

“'And others will he pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.' (2 Ne. 28:20–21.)"
