ST. WILLIAM PARISH CHOIR
ALPHA AND OMEGA โ The two Greek letters Alpha and Omega refer to Our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Beginning and the End. These are also seen in the St. William Parish logo. The Vert (green) tincture symbolizes life, and the Gules (red) tincture symbolizes the sacrifice of Christ for our salvation.
CROSS โ The Sable (black) fimbriated Or (gold) cross at the center of the shield refers to the patron saint and protector of Passi: St. William the Hermit. The black color alludes to the color of the saintโs robes as a hermit, and the cross refers to the crucifix which the saint venerates in contemplation. The arms of the cross extend throughout the shield, reflecting the salvation of Our Lord which extends to all mankind, and the intercession of St. William for the City of Passi.
RICE โ Placed on an Azure (blue) background, the bundle of rice symbolizes Passi City, the territory of the parish, for the name comes from the term "pasi" which means "unhusked rice".
PIPE ORGAN โ Placed on a Brunaitre (brown) background, this instrument, held by the church with high esteem for use in the liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium Art. 120), signifies the Choir ministry which is in the service of the parish to uplift the faithful to God through sacred music.
1982 โ Inscribed on a scroll is the year of establishment of the St. William Parish Choir.
