"Blind guides! For you are like whitewashed tombs --- beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people's bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness... snakes! Sons of vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell?"
-Matthew 23:24-33
Holy Tuesday marks the important withering of the fig tree. On Holy Monday, when Jesus approached a fig tree, he found nothing on it but leaves. Seeing this, he cursed the fig tree, and the next day on Holy Tuesday, the fig tree was withered.
Brothers and sisters, as we contemplate and reflect today, let us remind ourselves of the purpose and meaning of Christ' sacrifice for the salvation of humanity. He sacrificed for one of us; and so, may we pursue the things that honor His sacrifice. May our striving of becoming inwardly and outwardly holy, pure, and righteous makes the Lord glorified.
