Aligning Our Desires With God’s
Getting what we want doesn't always bring the happiness we thought it would.

Psalm 145:14-21

Having desires is good—they often set the direction for our life. But unless our objectives match God’s, the longings we have are likely to prove empty and disappointing. (See John 4:7-14.) So how can we be sure our goals align with the Lord’s?

One way is through reading Scripture, which reveals God’s values. However, many things we yearn for are not specifically addressed in the Bible as “thou shalt” or “thou shalt not.” Thankfully, believers have access to God’s wisdom and discernment through His Holy Spirit, who Jesus promised would counsel us (John 14:26).

Another way to evaluate our desires is through honest prayer. In today’s psalm, David says, “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him” (vv. 18-19). When we authentically share our heart with God, He will respond with the guidance we need.

Ultimately, genuine love and respect for God ensures that we’re following His lead. If you don’t have this kind of connection with God, take a moment to ask Him for help.

DAILY DEVOTION

Becoming a Generous Giver

Take time to consider all the gifts you’ll enjoy today because of God's goodness.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8

We know we should be generous, but have you ever thought about all the ways the Lord has been generous to us? He formed us in our mother’s womb with tender, loving care and gave us life (Psalm 139:13). He created the world in which we live and provided air, water, food, and other essentials—as well as sunsets, butterflies, flowers, and laughter.

At salvation, we received additional gifts—the forgiveness of sins, eternal life, adoption into God’s family, and a heavenly home. We’re also given the Holy Spirit, who indwells us and provides wisdom, guidance, and comfort. We don’t deserve any of this, nor could we earn it. It’s been freely given to all who believe in Jesus.

When we think of how generous God has been to us, we should want to extend that generosity to others. To become a generous giver, remember these truths. We are ...

• Imitating Jesus when we give sacrificially.

• Honoring God when we obey His commands to give.

• Extending His work through our support of the church.

Being a generous person requires a heart that loves the Lord above all else. The Holy Spirit will also transform each of us into someone who finds pleasure in giving. And God loves a cheerful giver.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
—Galatians 6:10
We are to be people who do good deeds! When God gives us the opportunity, let's take it and do good to others! Unlike those captured by the desires of this world — those looking to get ahead, to get even with someone, or to get out of difficult situations — let's look for opportunities to do good! And, the good we do shouldn't be confined to other believers. Let's do good to all people and share God's loving kindness with other believers!

Let us Pray 🙏🙏🙏
Only you are truly good and perfect in all your ways, dear Father. However, I pray that your goodness may be seen in your Church and also in me as we serve you today, this week, and until the time the Savior returns for us in glory. Please help us be aware of and look for the opportunities you give us to do good to and for others. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Blessed morning to everyone our daily devotions for today
After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me."
—John 13:21
We think so badly of old Judas for betraying the Lord for 30 pieces of silver, but how many times do we betray him for nothing?" Ouch! What makes this so difficult for us to bear is Jesus' anguish knowing one of his own would betray him. Let's make every effort and call upon God's strength so that such betrayal can never be true of us! And if it ever is, let's make sure we run toward his grace with an honest desire to escape sin, come back to him, and live loyally for him!
Pray this prayer
Jesus, I am sorry for the times I have broken your heart with my rebellion and neglect. Father God, I apologize for my lack of passion that sometimes shows itself or my flagging zeal for your Son's sacrifice that saved me from sin and death. I want to live more vibrantly for you, Jesus, so others may see and come to know you because of my life. It is in your precious name, Jesus, and I pray to honor the Father and his holy name. Amen.

It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.
—Proverbs 19:2
Maybe one of the most important things we can do to grow in spiritual maturity is to become passionate about the right things. We can get riled up about some of the most inconsequential issues. We can get wildly passionate about everything from sports to chocolate pie. So, we must anchor our zeal and passion in spiritual wisdom with an understanding of what truly matters to God. Otherwise, we can get worked up over something insignificant and completely miss the will of the Lord. We can become blinded by our passions and forget God's mission. While I want zealous people around me, I want us to be zealous for God's concerns and Kingdom issues
Let us Pray 🙏🙏🙏
