A Marian Christmas Concert @ Mary The Queen Parish -San Juan City,
A choral presentation and offering of the the 29AD Musicionaries of Couples for Christ.
Next year, 2025, we will be celebrating our 20th year in serving the community as one of the music ministries under the Central A Sector, to which Mary the Queen chapter belongs. We are so called musicionaries because our common passion is music, whether it is through singing or playing instruments, and our shared purpose is to serve in missions, whenever we are called to, and wherever that may be – because we are committed to bring Christian fire music to the ends of the earth.
MARY, ARE YOU OUR QUEEN
This Marian song offering is an original -- a collaboration of the late Bro. Bob Serrano, who was the group’s spiritual and creative leader until his untimely demise in 2014, and Bro. Nonong Sampang, the group’s long-time musical director. “Mary, Are You our Queen” may sound like a question but is actually an expression of a yearning for a mother who deeply cares for her children, and a queen who not only intercedes on our behalf, but also acts as her Son’s mediator. First sung at the musical during MTQ’s 60th founding anniversary, 29AD sings it again tonight for our dear Mama Mary, the queen of our hearts!
KRISTO, TUNAY NA DIWA NG PASKO
The two-song Christmas repertoire begins with an adaptation of Ryan Cayabyab’s composition for a popular softdrinks commercial that was released in the late ‘80s. In a world that is currently in turmoil and besieged by secularity and too much materialism, the new lyrics, penned by Sis. Leah Borja, remind us of the real reason for the season. Si Kristo ang tunay na diwa ng Pasko!
OYAYI NI JOSE AT MARIA
The second Christmas song is an original Tagalog composition by Bro. Mimmon Vicente and arranged by Bro. Nonong Sampang. “Oyayi ni Jose at Maria” could very well be the lullaby that Joseph and Mary lovingly sang to their newly-born baby Jesus during that first Christmas night in Bethlehem.
From the 29AD Musicionaries of Couples for Christ, a peaceful and blessed Christmas to you all!
