โ€‹HINUNANGAN, Southern Leyte โ€” During the recently concluded Symposium on Good Governance and Social Responsibility organized by the Parish Youth Ministry (PYM), Municipal Mayor Hon. Ymard delivered an inspiring message to the local youth, redefining the true essence of progress and emphasizing their pivotal role in nation-building.

โ€‹In his message, Mayor Tocmo challenged the common perception that development is solely measured by physical infrastructure and public projects. Instead, he stressed that the real growth of a municipality is anchored in the quality of its people.

โ€‹"Ang tinuod nga kalambuan sa usa ka lungsod, dili lamang masukod pinaagi sa mga proyekto ug imprastraktura lamang kundi pinaagi sa kalidad sa iyang katawhan," the Mayor stated.

He highlighted that the youth of Hinunangan, characterized by their fear of God, community responsibility, and a genuine desire to serve, are the true benchmarks of the townโ€™s advancement.

โ€‹Moving away from the conventional phrase that youth are the "leaders of tomorrow," Mayor Tocmo affirmed their immediate importance in the present governance of the town.

โ€‹"I always believe that the youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow. You are already partners in leadership today," he asserted. "Ang inyong tingog importante. Ang inyong mga ideas adunay value, ug ang inyong participation maoy kusog nga makapaduso sa mas malinawon, mas disiplinado ug mas progressive nga Hinunangan."

โ€‹The Mayor encouraged the younger generation to actively engage in initiatives that foster their growth in knowledge, character, and spirituality. He reminded them that leadership is not defined by titles or positions, but by the weight of responsibility one carries for the community.

โ€‹"Ayaw kahadlok sa pagserbisyo ug pagpakabana sa inyong komunidad," Mayor Tocmo urged.

"Remember, leadership is not about position, but about responsibility, integrity, and willingness to serve others."

โ€‹The message serves as a rallying call for the youth of Hinunangan to continue being proactive agents of change, solidifying their partnership with the local government in the pursuit of a more progressive and disciplined municipality.
