As we enter the upcoming Season of Creation, celebrated from September 1 to October 4, the Church invites us to pause and remember the beautiful world entrusted to us by God. Creation is not merely something we use, it is a gift we are called to cherish, protect, and care for.
The Season of Creation began as a time for Christians around the world to pray and act for the care of our common home. It reminds us of our responsibility as stewards of creation, recognizing that the earth and everything in it ultimately belong to God. Through prayer, reflection, and concrete acts of care, we are invited to renew our relationship with creation and with one another.
The Catechism teaches that the seventh commandment calls us to respect the integrity of creation and to use the goods of the earth responsibly. Caring for creation is therefore more than simply keeping our surroundings clean, it is an expression of gratitude to the Creator and love for our neighbors, especially those who are most affected when our common home is harmed.
As we begin this Season of Creation, may we remember that caring for the earth begins with the little things we do each day. Let us not only admire the beauty of creation, but become its faithful stewards. Because what God has entrusted to us is not ours to waste, it is ours to protect, nurture, and pass on. ๐๐
