โœจ HAPPY 1,993RD BIRTHDAY TO THE ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC, AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH! โœจ

Today, we joyfully celebrate the birth of the Holy Catholic Church โ€” the Church founded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ upon Saint Peter and the Apostles. For more than two thousand years, the Catholic Church has continued her mission of proclaiming the Gospel, administering the Sacraments, defending the truth, and leading souls closer to God. ๐Ÿคโœ๏ธ

From the early Christians who gave their lives for the faith, to the saints who became shining examples of holiness, the Church has remained standing through persecution, wars, trials, and the changing tides of the world. Empires rose and fell, but the Church of Christ remains โ€” alive, faithful, and guided by the Holy Spirit. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

The Catholic Church is more than an institution; she is our spiritual home, our mother in faith, and the Body of Christ. Through her, we received Baptism, learned the teachings of Christ, encountered the Eucharist, and discovered the mercy and love of God. ๐Ÿ™

In a world filled with confusion and division, the Church continues to proclaim eternal truth, calling every person to holiness, repentance, unity, and love. Despite attacks, criticisms, and challenges, the promise of Jesus remains forever true:

โ€œYou are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.โ€ โ€” Matthew 16:18

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, continue to guide and protect all the faithful. May the Holy Spirit strengthen the Church in every nation. And may we always remain united in one faith, one baptism, and one Lord. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Happy Birthday, Holy Mother Church!

CHURCH NEWS | โ€œTungkulin ng Simbahan ang Magpaalala sa Tao ng Kautusan ng Diyosโ€ - Fr Dave Concepcion

Rev. Fr. Dave Concepcion reminded the faithful that the mission of the Church is to proclaim and uphold Godโ€™s commandments, not to police every individual believer. Reflecting on the presence of Judas even during the time of Jesus, the priest emphasized that while not all Catholics live virtuously, many still strive for holiness and become examples of faith.

He also called on Catholics serving in government to embody integrity, truthfulness, and moral leadership, stressing that public officials represent not only themselves but also the faith they profess. According to Fr. Dave, Catholics in public service should reject corruption, dishonesty, and wrongdoing, and instead live with righteousness and accountability.

Princess Nobuko, the widow of Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, has quietly entered Japanese history as the first baptized Catholic to head her own branch of the Imperial Family โ€” a rare and symbolic moment within the worldโ€™s oldest continuous monarchy. On September 30, 2025, Japanโ€™s Imperial House Economy Council officially approved the establishment of a new imperial house under Princess Nobuko, granting her an independent residence, budget, and formal standing within the Imperial Family. The decision marked the first creation of a new imperial house since 1990. It drew attention for another historic reason: Princess Nobuko is the first openly baptized Catholic to lead her own imperial branch in Japanโ€™s history. Born Nobuko Asล in 1955, she comes from the prominent Catholic Asล family and was baptized as a child. She studied in Catholic schools and is the sister of former Japanese Prime Minister Tarล Asล, one of Japanโ€™s best-known Catholic political figures. She married Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, a cousin of Emperor Emeritus Akihito, in 1980. Her appointment carries particular significance in Japan, where the Imperial Family has long been closely tied to Shinto traditions and rituals. At the same time, Christianity remained a minority faith for centuries following periods of severe persecution. Catholics today make up less than 1% of Japanโ€™s population. Historians and observers note its deeper symbolism: for the first time, a baptized Catholic woman now holds her own recognized place within the heart of the Japanese imperial institution.

The feasts of the Assumption and the Ascension are closely connected in meaning, yet they are profoundly different in who is honored, how the event takes place, and what each mystery reveals about Godโ€™s plan of salvation.

โ€ข ASSUMPTION โ€” The Blessed Virgin Mary

The Assumption refers to the moment when the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken up into heaven, body and soul, at the end of her earthly life. The Church celebrates this solemnity every year on August 15. Unlike death as we normally understand it, Maryโ€™s Assumption is believed as a unique participation in her Sonโ€™s victory over sin and death. She was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception, and at the end of her life, God brought her fully into heavenly glory.

This truth is not directly narrated in Scripture, but it is deeply rooted in Sacred Tradition and is defined as a dogma of the Catholic Church. It reflects the belief that Mary, who carried Christ in her womb and remained perfectly faithful to God, shares already in the fullness of redemption promised to all the faithful.

The Assumption reminds us of our future hope: that our bodies are not meant for destruction, but for resurrection and eternal life with God.

โ€ข ASCENSION โ€” Our Lord Jesus Christ

The Ascension refers to Jesus Christ returning to heaven by His own divine power, forty days after His Resurrection. It is celebrated on the 40th day of Easter (or transferred to Sunday in many places). Unlike Mary, Jesus does not โ€œreceiveโ€ gloryโ€”He returns to the glory He has always possessed as the eternal Son of God.

The Ascension is clearly recorded in Sacred Scripture:

Acts 1:9โ€“11 โ€“ Jesus is lifted up before the eyes of the apostles

Mark 16:19โ€“20 โ€“ The Lord is taken up into heaven and sits at the right hand of God

Luke 24:50โ€“53 โ€“ Jesus blesses His disciples and is carried into heaven

The Ascension is not a departure of absence, but the completion of Christโ€™s mission on earth and His exaltation as King and Lord of all creation. From heaven, He continues to intercede for His Church and sends the Holy Spirit.

Maryโ€™s Assumption points us to the fruit of Christโ€™s salvation in a human person, while Jesusโ€™ Ascension reveals the source of that salvation itself.

Together, they proclaim one message: heaven is real, Christ reigns, and those who remain faithful to God are destined for glory.
