Today, August 20, we commemorate the Memorial of ๐๐๐ข๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ซ๐, Abbot and Doctor of the Church.
๐๐๐ข๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ซ๐ (1090โ1153) was a French abbot, theologian, and one of the most influential spiritual leaders of the Middle Ages. As Abbot of Clairvaux, he revitalized the ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐๐ง ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ซ through his example of humility, prayer, and faithful observance of the monastic life. Renowned for his eloquent preaching and profound writings, he tirelessly defended the faith, promoted peace within the Church, and inspired countless men and women to seek a deeper relationship with Christ.
Proclaimed a Doctor of the Church, Saint Bernard is especially remembered for his profound love for the Blessed Virgin Mary and his teachings on the love of God. His life reminds us that true wisdom flows from a heart rooted in prayer and contemplation, and that genuine holiness is expressed through humility, charity, and complete trust in God's mercy. His witness continues to encourage the faithful to seek Christ above all things and to live each day with hearts devoted to His service.
