📖 GOD NO LONGER SPEAKS OUTSIDE HIS WRITTEN WORD

1. Paul Was Given the Final Revelation

“Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God.”
— Colossians 1:25

Paul fulfilled (completed) the word of God. No more messages or revelations were needed after the mystery was fully revealed to and through him (Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:1–9).

2. God Now Speaks Only Through His Written Word

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…”
— 2nd Timothy 3:16

“…the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
— 2nd Timothy 3:15

“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
— Romans 10:17

Paul never instructs the believer to listen for a voice or inner prompting. Instead, we are told to study (2nd Timothy 2:15) and to be established “according to my gospel” (Romans 16:25). The scripture is our only source for truth today (1st Thessalonians 2:13).

3. God Is Not Speaking in Dreams or Audible Voices Today

“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
— 1st Corinthians 2:13

This passage teaches comparing spiritual with spiritual—scripture with scripture. It doesn’t say to wait for impressions or voices. In fact:

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
— 1st Corinthians 2:12

But this knowledge comes by studying God's written word, not by feelings or private messages.

4. Revelation and Tongues Ceased

“Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.”
— 1st Corinthians 13:8

Spiritual gifts were temporary. They were given to reveal and confirm God's word before it was completed. Once Paul fulfilled the word of God (Colossians 1:25), the gifts ceased—including receiving messages from God.

5. God Now Works According to the Mystery

“In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands…”
— Colossians 2:11

This spiritual operation and all the blessings believers enjoy today are found in Paul’s epistles only. We walk by faith in the completed word—not by sight, signs, or personal experiences (2nd Corinthians 5:7).

6. The Danger of Seeking New Revelation

“If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.”
— 1st Corinthians 14:37

If someone claims new words from God, Paul says they must submit to his writings as the Lord's commandments.

“Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel… let him be accursed.”
— Galatians 1:8

Even “messages from angels” are forbidden now. The Bible is closed, complete, and sufficient.

💡 SUMMARY

God does not speak through dreams, visions, or voices today. All communication from God comes through the KJV Bible, rightly divided. Paul fulfilled the word of God (Colossians 1:25), and we are to study that word (2nd Timothy 2:15), not seek signs or personal revelation.

💡ADDITIONAL POINTS:

To believe that God is still communicating audibly, through signs, dreams, inner impressions, or supernatural nudges today, one would have to deny, ignore, or twist a significant number of clear verses in Paul’s epistles that teach:

God's communication is now complete in His written word

The sign gifts have ceased

We are to walk by faith (in written doctrine), not by sight or sense

The mystery revelation has been fulfilled and nothing is missing

God speaks to us only through Paul’s gospel and epistles in this dispensation

Here is a list of key verses that would have to be denied or reinterpreted:

🛑 Verses That Must Be Denied to Justify Ongoing Personal Revelations

🔹 The completion of God's revelation through Paul

Colossians 1:25 – "…to fulfil the word of God;"

Paul completed God's word. There's nothing more to add.

Romans 16:25-26 – "…according to the revelation of the mystery… made manifest… by the scriptures of the prophets…"

The mystery is now fully revealed. No more new insight is coming.

2nd Timothy 3:16-17 – "All scripture is given by inspiration of God… that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

The written Scripture is sufficient for all things.

🔹 The cessation of sign gifts and audible revelations

1st Corinthians 13:8-10 – "…prophecies, they shall fail… tongues, they shall cease… when that which is perfect is come…"

“That which is perfect” refers to the completed revelation of Scripture.

1st Corinthians 1:22-24 – "For the Jews require a sign… but we preach Christ crucified…"

Sign-seeking is associated with unbelief; Paul moves us to faith in the gospel alone.

Philippians 2:27 – "Epaphroditus was sick… but God had mercy on him…"

Paul didn’t heal him. Sign gifts were fading even in Paul’s lifetime.

🔹 The Spirit leads us by the word, not through voices or feelings

Galatians 3:2-5 – "Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?"

The Spirit works today through hearing faith—not signs or voices.

1st Corinthians 2:13-14 – "…comparing spiritual things with spiritual… the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God…"

Only the written word, spiritually discerned, is the method of communication.

Ephesians 1:17-18 – "…that God… may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him… eyes of your understanding being enlightened;"

Enlightenment comes through understanding, not mystical voices or feelings.

🔹 Walking by faith, not by experience

2nd Corinthians 5:7 – "For we walk by faith, not by sight:"

Direct experiences, signs, and voices appeal to the senses—not to faith in the word.

Romans 10:17 – "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Faith today is sourced through reading/hearing God’s written word.

Colossians 2:6-8 – "…walk ye in him… Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy… or traditions of men…"

Trusting hunches or impressions as if they are divine is a form of man-made tradition.

🔹 Paul’s gospel is the final and exclusive pattern for today

1st Timothy 1:16 – "…in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe…"

Paul is the pattern. We follow his doctrine—not Peter’s signs, nor Israel’s visions.

Titus 1:2-3 – "…God… manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me…"

God's communication is through preaching Paul's gospel, not ongoing revelation.

2nd Timothy 2:7 – "…the Lord give thee understanding in all things."

Understanding today is something God gives through Paul's epistles—not through extra-biblical voices or private messages.

These verses teach that God is not speaking in dreams, voices, impressions, or signs today. His only method of communication during the dispensation of grace is through the written word of God, rightly divided — specifically, Paul’s epistles (Romans–Philemon).

Grace and peace ❤
