If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart. Yet for your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
~Psalm 44:20-22

Send me your light and your faithful care,
let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight.I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
~Psalm 43:3-4

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
The Lord protects and preserves them
they are counted among the blessed in the land
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
~ Psalm 40:1-2

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
~Psalm 40:4-5

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

2 I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
~Psalm 39:1-2
