Spotted serving with reverence at the altar of God! 🌟

We look at Ivan Oroc, one of our dedicated altar servers here at the Parish of St. Gregory the Great in Ginatilan, Cebu. Serving at the Holy Eucharist requires focus, humility, and a heart ready to assist in the sacred mysteries, and we are truly grateful for the commitment of our young servers who help make our liturgies beautiful and orderly.

Let us keep Ivan and the entire Ministry of Altar Servers in our prayers as they continue to answer the call to serve God and our parish community with love and devotion.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruitβ€”fruit that will last." John 15:16

Today, we join the entire community in offering our warmest congratulations and prayers to Rev. Fr. Dave Cantillas, Rev. Fr. Arnel Ponce, and Rev. Fr. Teodoro Baruc as they celebrate their 10th Sacerdotal Ordination Anniversary!

For ten beautiful years, these shepherds have dedicated their lives to the Lord's vineyard, administering the sacraments, delivering the Word, and guiding souls closer to Christ. Thank you, Fathers, for your unwavering "Yes" to the priesthood and for pouring out your lives in love and humility for the Church.

May the Eternal High Priest continue to bless your ministry with strength, good health, and an abundance of spiritual joy. Ad multos annos, Padres!

Did you know that our beloved Ginatilan shares a deep historical bond with our neighbor, Samboan?

Before becoming an independent town, Ginatilan was a small barrio under the spiritual care of Samboan. Because our early chapel lacked its own liturgical vestments and church supplies, Spanish friars had to travel from Samboan every week, bringing everything needed for the Holy Mass.

The locals called this place "Hinatdan", a Cebuano word meaning "the place where things are delivered." Over time, Spanish colonial authorities adapted the word into the name we know today: Ginatilan.

Our spiritual journey reached a historic milestone in 1847 when a Spanish Royal Decree officially separated our community from its mother parish in Samboan. This historic shift led to the founding of our very own Parish of St. Gregory the Great, placing our community under the protection of St. Gregory the Great.

Today, we honor our humble beginnings, our shared heritage, and the faith that continues to deliver hope to our community.
