It consists of more or less twenty (20) members residing at Brgy. Abagon, Gerona, Tarlac and whose farms were closely situated and applying new technology in inbred rice production.
In September 2007, six (6) seed growers namely, Sol R. Gonzales, Bienvenido Iglesia, Bonifacio Ramilo, Rodolfo Ramilo, Ferdinand Capitulo, and Jose Marcelo Renegado joined the organization. However, not far la
ter, majority of the membership decided to convert it into a cooperative so that after a series of seminars conducted by PCEDO and CDA it became a cooperative and renamed Abagon Compact Farm and Seed Growers, MPC because of the infusion of the seed growers. Seed Growing and / or production then became their primary business. However, the members did not immediately convert it into seed growing, on the after the seed growers above-mentioned delivered seeds to the National Government under the DA RFO III Seeds Procurement Program that some got interest into seed growing. Later, Marlon Estrada, Winnie Lactaotao, Junior Aguilar, Eusebio Nool, Camilo Tolentino, Vilma Guerrerro and lately Romeo Mendoza underwent training at the BPI-NSQCS to become legitimate seed growers.
It was officially registered at the CDA on December 7, 2007, which date it acquires legal personality. With meager authorized share capital of Forty Thousand Pesos (P40,000.00) Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00) of which has been subscribed and Two Thousand Five Hundred pesos (P2,500.00) has been paid. Now, it has authorized share capital about 3.2 Million, P800,000.00 has been subscribed and P200,000.00 has been paid.
As of today, Abagon Compact Farm and Seed Growers MPC, is engaged in inbred rice seed production as its main business. It supplies certified seeds to different municipalities of the Province of Tarlac whenever there is seeds procurement program of the national government. It also offers flatbed dryer service, tractor stable service as well as transplanting service which caters primarily to its members but does not preclude non-members. Its source of revenue is chiefly from the delivery of seeds and from the custom service it renders. However meager, it is anyway sufficient to defray the mandatory and operational expenses of the organization.
It has a vision of becoming the province’s premier producer of high quality inbred rice seeds. It has a mission to uplift the living condition of members through their active involvement in inbred rice seed production activities.
One if its social commitments is to update farmers on the new farming technology as buyers of our produce are given free lectures on how to sow and apply nutrient properly. It is actively participating in the tsinelas giving and tree plant program of PCEDO, and encouraging members to do backyard vegetable gardening. Under this program, the coop provides vegetable seeds and seedlings to the members free.
In year 2014, the cooperative envisioned an expanded operation as well as production of high quality Inbred Rice Seeds to cater the growing demand for certified seeds, so that it joined Tarlac Credit Surety Fund (TCSF) to bolster its financial needs thru the credit facilities of its partner banks (LBP and DBP) but only this year 2016, that it finally decided to borrow financial reinforcement.
