Today, we celebrate a beautiful milestone in the life of Rev. Fr. Gerard Zabala, OP, as he marks his 31st Sacerdotal Anniversary.
For over three decades, Fr. Gerard has lived out the Dominican motto of Laudare, Benedicere, Praedicare—to praise, to bless, and to preach. We are profoundly grateful for his "Yes" to the priesthood, his heart for the community, and his unwavering dedication to sharing the Light of Christ.

Happy Anniversary, Fr. Ziggy! We pray for your continued health, joy, and strength as you serve in the Lord’s vineyard. 🙏

The 2nd-year Industrial Engineering students gathered at the Chapel for a meaningful Lenten Recollection.

The session was led by Fr. Gerard Zabala, OP, SEIT Chaplain, who guided the students in reflecting on the concept of grit. He emphasized that true resilience goes beyond technical skills and is rooted in spiritual strength and perseverance in the face of challenges.

The recollection served as a timely reminder for the students to continue building their lives on faith, passion, and steadfast courage during the Lenten season.

Our Industrial Engineering (IE) first-year students spent a meaningful day of prayer and reflection during their recent Lenten Recollection, led by the SEIT Chaplain, Fr. Gerard C. Zabala, OP. The session, focused on Grace and Mercy, challenged our future engineers and tech leaders to look beyond their screens and into the needs of the community.

Through the lens of the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, students discussed practical ways to embody compassion—from providing for the thirsty and homeless to offering a presence to the sick and marginalized. As Mother Teresa reminded us, “We are called to do small things with great love through simple acts of kindness.”

May this season of Lent inspire us all to turn grace into action.

The Lay Dominican Fraternity of St. Magdalene de Nagasaki Chapter gathered at UST General Santos for a Lenten Recollection led by Rev. Fr. Gerard C. Zabala, OP, Associate Vice-Rector for Religious Affairs.

Through Fr. Zabala’s guidance, the fraternity reflected on Lent not as a burden, but as a sacred turning point—a rhythmic call to simplify and recognize grace. The recollection emphasized how true renewal begins in the "desert" of silence, where contemplation becomes the fuel for compassionate action.

Guided by the Dominican charism, the members were reminded that "Silence isn't empty, it’s full of answers," and that true freedom is found in the courageous choice to pursue a life in Christ.

“Return to me with all your heart.” (Joel 2:12)
