Love doesn’t begin with us — it begins with God.
On a day when the world celebrates love in cards, flowers, and romance, we’re reminded that true love has a deeper source. Love is not something we simply feel — it’s something we learn. Before we ever loved God, He loved us first. Before we knew how to love others well, He showed us what love looks like through patience, sacrifice, forgiveness, and grace.
God’s love isn’t seasonal. It doesn’t depend on our mood, our performance, or our worthiness. His love is steady when we are strong, and faithful when we are weak. Because we have been loved so deeply by Him, we are called to let that love overflow into how we treat others — in our families, our friendships, our churches, and even toward those who are difficult to love.
Today is a good moment to pause and ask ourselves:
Are we loving the way God has loved us?
Are we patient when it’s inconvenient?
Are we kind when it’s undeserved?
Are we forgiving when it’s hard?
Let God’s love be our teacher.
Let His love be our standard.
And let His love be what shapes how we live — not just today, but every day.
“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
