Shepherd's Flock Assembly Of God Church

Shepherd's Flock Assembly Of God Church What we believe. The Bible was written by human authors; under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is fully man, and fully God.

Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth; it is without error and relevant to our daily lives. (Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Psalm 119:11; 119:89; 119:105; Isaiah 40:8; John 5:39; 17:17 Romans 15:4; Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12)

Salvation
The Bible clearly states that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation takes

place when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is not earned through our own efforts, or any amount of good works. It is only by faith and through grace you can receive this free gift from God. (Matthew 1:21; Acts 2:21; Romans 5:8-10; Ephesians 2:8-10; Hebrews 9:12-15)

The Church
We as the church are committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ and obeying all of His commands. Our purpose is to work together in truth, love and unity with the intent and ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ and bringing the Gospel to the world. (Matthew 16:18; 18:15-20; Acts 2:41-47; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; Colossians 1:18, 3:15)

Trinity
We affirm there is one God whom revealed himself in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity serves different functions, yet they each possess equal power and authority. (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; John 1:1-4; Romans 8:9-11)

The Father-
The Father is the creator and sustainer of all things. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises. (Leviticus 11:44-45; Deuteronomy 6:4; Malachi 3:6; John 3:16; 4:23-24)

The Son-
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary; He lived a perfect life for man’s redemption. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we could be given the opportunity for eternal life. (Matthew 1:18-23; 8:29; 16:16; 28:5-6; John 1:14; John 17:1-5; Acts 1:9; Romans 3:23-26; 1 Timothy 2:5-6)

The Holy Spirit-
The Holy Spirit is Lord and giver of Life, whom was active in the Old Testament and given to the Church in fullness at Pentecost. He empowers believers for service and witness; convicting people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. The baptism in the Holy Spirit, followed by conversion, releases the fullness of the Spirit and is evident by the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit in believers’ lives. Each believer has the potential to experience various fruit and gifts of the Spirit as God sees fit. The initial physical evidence of speaking in unknown tongues, interpreting unknown tongues, scripturally based words of prophecy, words of wisdom, and words of knowledge, as well as the gift of healing are a few examples the Bible mentions. (Genesis 1:2; Psalm 51:11; Isaiah 61:1-3; Mark 1:10; Luke 1:35; 11:13; 12:12;
John 15:26; 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; Romans 8:9-11; 8:14-16; 8:26-27;
1 Corinthians 3:16; 12:4-11; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 1:13-14)

Eternity
Man was created to live forever. He will exist either in eternal separation from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. There will be a final judgment in which the dead will be resurrected and judged according to their works. Everyone whose name is not written in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be resurrected and stand at the judgment seat and rewarded for their good deeds based on their relationship with Jesus Christ. (John 3:16; 3:36; Romans 6:23; 1 John 2:25; 5:22-23; Revelation 20:15)

The Ordinances

Baptism in Water
Baptism is an outward sign of what God has already done in the individual’s life and is a testimony to all that the person now belongs to Jesus. It is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is a declaration to the world that we have died to sin and have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12)

Communion
Communion (The Lord’s Supper) consists of two elements: the bread and the cup. Those elements are symbolic of the body and blood of Christ. Communion is a memorial of Christ’s sufferings on the cross and a celebration of our salvation through His resurrection. It is an opportunity for a believer to examine himself and experience forgiveness. (Matthew 26:26-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
