What Should I Do in Times of Quitting?
Acts of the Apostles 16:20–26
In this passage, Paul the Apostle and Silas were beaten, humiliated, and imprisoned. Humanly speaking, this was the perfect moment to quit. They were doing God’s work, yet they were suffering. But instead of giving up, they showed us what faith looks like in the middle of crisis.
1. Know God more in the middle of crisis
Acts 16:25
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God…”
Notice the time—midnight. Midnight represents the darkest season, the moment when hope seems quiet and everything feels heavy. Yet it was exactly in that moment that Paul and Silas prayed and worshiped.
Sometimes we only know God as Provider, Healer, or Miracle Worker when things are going well. But in crisis, we begin to know Him deeper—as our Peace, our Strength, and our Sustainer.
Usahay ang crisis dili punishment; usahay invitation na siya to know God deeper.
When life presses you, it reveals what is inside you. And inside Paul and Silas was not complaint—but worship.
2. Your situation cannot stop God from being God
Acts 16:26
“Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken…”
Paul and Silas were chained, locked, and guarded. Everything about their situation said “You are stuck.” But one move from God changed everything.
The prison doors opened.
The chains fell off.
Their situation looked impossible, but God was not limited by their environment.
Bisag unsa pa ka lisod imong kahimtang karon—
✓ imong problema
✓ imong pain
✓ imong delay
Dili na makapugong sa pagka-Dios sa Ginoo.
God does not need a perfect situation to perform a miracle. He can shake prisons, break chains, and turn impossible moments into testimonies.
God can bring restoration after the season of pain
2 Samuel 12:24–25
After the painful loss of his child, David experienced deep grief. It was a heartbreaking season. Yet the story did not end in loss.
God later blessed David and Bathsheba with another son
Solomon, whom the Lord loved.
God can still write a new chapter after your broken season.
✓ Your failure is not your final story.
✓ Your pain is not the end of your purpose.
Sometimes after the deepest sorrow, God births something greater than what was lost.
