❔WHO IS SULPICIO MUÑASQUE?
The late Reverend Sulpicio Muñasque (d. Sept. 7, 1965) was a pioneer and prominent resident of General Santos City from 1948 until his passing. He was among the earliest members of Dadiangas UCCP Church (now Gensan UCCP City Central Church, Inc.) and faithfully served as a pastor, tirelessly preaching the gospel—not only to the congregation, but to the wider community.
During the Japanese occupation, Rev. Muñasque was even used by God to save the life of Mr. Ponciano Odal, another pioneering church member. His life testified to the Christian faith—not just in words, but in faithful practice.
Through the initiative of the Church Council and the favorable recommendation of the Barangay Council of Dadiangas West, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, during its 45th Regular Session, passed Ordinance No. 13, Series of 1996, officially renaming Anonas Street to Sulpicio Muñasque Street.
The old Anonas tree that once stood on the church grounds is long gone. In its place of purpose now stands a newly erected street marker—bearing a legacy of faith and faithfulness worthy of remembrance by every generation.
Street names tell stories. This one tells a story worth honoring.
