Black Saturday| Blessing of the Fire
Let us pray.
Almighty and eternal God,
You are the source of all light and life.
On this most holy night,
as we recall the victory of Your Son, Jesus Christ, over sin and death,
we humbly ask You to bless this new fire.
May this flame be for us a sign of Your divine presence, the same fire that led Your people through the darkness, and the light that now shines in the Resurrection of Christ.
As this fire is kindled and grows in brightness,
so may our hearts be set ablaze with faith, hope, and love.
May it purify us from all sin,
drive away the darkness within us,
and renew us in spirit.
Grant that we, who are gathered in this sacred vigil,may be filled with the light of Christ
and walk always as children of the light.
May the fire of Your Holy Spirit
burn within us, guiding us toward truth,
strengthening us in trials,
and leading us to everlasting life.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
