🕊️ Church Worker Appreciation Saturday
Every Saturday, we pause to shine a light on the hands and hearts God is using in our church family. This week, we're celebrating Sister Angelica Jacala đź’›
Sister Angie serves in Women's Ministry and Praise and Worship Ministry, faithfully giving her life to God's work since 1989 — over three decades of showing up, singing, and serving.
Her story reminds us a little of the woman at the well in John 4. Before she truly knew Him, that woman was just going through her everyday routine, unaware that God was about to meet her right where she was. Angelica shares something similar — she used to sing for the world, but little by little, she felt God gently drawing her into His work through the very same gift. She kept singing, but everything about it changed. Her life became more peaceful, more grounded, more meaningful. Just like that woman at the well who left her water jar behind and ran to tell everyone about Jesus, Angelica said yes to serving because she wanted her life to finally have direction.
Even when it's difficult, she continues — because in the middle of the hardship, there is peace. Real peace, the kind that only comes from walking with God.
One of the biggest lessons Jesus has taught her through serving is learning to correct what was wrong in her — the quiet, ongoing work of letting God straighten out the broken and crooked parts of her life.
Her life verse captures that beautifully — Isaiah 1:18: "Come now, let us settle the matter," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." A promise that no matter how far we've been, God is always ready to make us new.
To anyone afraid to serve, Angelica's words are simple and full of joy: "Don't be afraid! Come closer instead, because it truly is sweet to serve the Lord."
Today, Jesus is her Savior — her everything.
One of her favorite ministry memories is simply being together with the women of JTKG — the fellowship, the laughter, the bond built through years of serving side by side.
Sister Angie, thank you for over 30 years of faithfulness, for letting your voice carry His name, and for showing us what it looks like to keep saying yes, decade after decade. You are seen, you are valued, and heaven is smiling on the work you do. 🙌
