As we come to the close of Altar Servers Month, the Ministry of Altar Servers of San Jose Manggagawa Parish is grateful to present the official social media accounts of the Ministry.

This initiative was made possible through the dedication, initiative, and collaboration of the Ministry Local Officers and the Social Communication Committee, who worked together to establish platforms that will help strengthen communication, promote the activities of the Ministry, and keep our members and parish community connected.

Through these official social media accounts, we hope to provide a platform where we can share the life and mission of our Ministry, announce upcoming activities and programs, document our celebrations, and highlight the different ways through which our altar servers continue to dedicate themselves to the service of God and His Church.

These platforms will also become a living collection of our memories as a Ministry. Every celebration, formation, gathering, activity, and simple moment of fellowship becomes part of our shared journey. These are memories that we may look back on in the years to come. Memories that preserve the experiences, friendships, lessons, and moments of service that have shaped us as altar servers.

The Ministry of Altar Servers of San Jose Manggagawa Parish extends its warmest greetings to the Ministry of Altar Servers โ€“ National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes on the Sixth Anniversary of the Pontifical Coronation of the Venerada y Coronada Imagen Nuestra Seรฑora de Lourdes de Manila.

We also invite everyone to join the National Pilgrimage and Procession for the Healing of the Nation tomorrow, August 22, at 4:00 PM, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, Quezon City.

Halina sa Birhen ng Lourdes!

The devotion to Nuestra Seรฑora de Lourdes took deep root in the Philippines through the Capuchin Franciscan friars, who brought the Marian devotion from France to Manila in the late 19th century. In 1892, sculptor Manuel Flores carved the initial image of the Virgin. Two years later, in 1894, a second and larger image was crafted by Manuel Flores with the guidance of Fr. Antonio of Valenciaโ€”the majestic icon that now stands crowned above the altar at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Quezon City. Beyond its artistic heritage, this venerated image gained widespread public affection as a sanctuary of healing and spiritual refuge. Over generations, countless Filipino faithful have testified to remarkable miracles, physical healings, and answered prayers attributed to her intercession, particularly during times of war, illness, and crisis.

Recognizing the profound, enduring devotion of the Filipino people, Pope Francis issued a decree through the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in September 2019 granting the image a Pontifical Coronation. Originally scheduled to take place on May 2, 2020, the event was postponed due to the global pandemic and government lockdowns. The solemn Pontifical Coronation officially took place on August 22, 2020, placing the crown upon the image of Our Lady to Lourdes. Celebrated alongside the Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this historic distinction stands as the highest honor granted by the Catholic Church to a religious image, forever sealing her role as a beacon of hope, health, and maternal protection.

ยกVIVA LA VIRGEN DE LOURDES!

The Ministry of Altar Servers of San Jose Manggagawa Parish celebrated the Feast Day of St. Tarcisius, our patron saint, through a simple and meaningful gathering with our trainees and newly recruited altar servers.

This celebration was dedicated to the new batch of altar servers, giving them the opportunity to meet their fellow servers, spend time together, and have their first gathering as a new group in the ministry.

It was a day of fellowship, faith, and service, as we welcomed a new group of young servants who will take part in the ministry and its mission to serve at the altar.

May the example of St. Tarcisius remind us of the value of faithful and humble service to God.

St. Tarcisius, pray for us.

With one faith and one devotion, we unite in honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary under her glorious title as Nuestra Seรฑora de la Asunciรณn de Maragondon, the heavenly Patroness of Maragondon, Cavite. For more than four centuries, devotion to Our Lady of the Assumption has remained at the heart of the parish, accompanying generations of the faithful through prayer, hope, and unwavering trust in God's providence.

The Marian heritage of Maragondon is uniquely preserved in the three venerated images of Our Lady of the Assumption, each reflecting a significant chapter in the history of the parish and the enduring devotion of its people.

The Birheng Matanda is the primera imagen of Nuestra Seรฑora de la Asunciรณn, commissioned in 1620 shortly after the establishment of the early Jesuit mission. Carved from tindalo wood with an ivory face and hands, this sacred image is regarded as the oldest surviving and continuously venerated image of Our Lady of the Assumption in Cavite and among the oldest religious images in the Philippines. Hidden from public view except on extraordinary occasions, she remains a priceless witness to more than four centuries of Marian devotion.

The Birheng Nakatayo, affectionately known as Mariang taga-Maragondon, was commissioned during the construction of the present stone church in the early eighteenth century. Standing prominently upon the parish's principal retablo, she has long been the principal image of public devotion and received the grace of an Episcopal Coronation on 14 December 1997, recognizing the deep and enduring faith of the people of Maragondon.

Completing this sacred tradition is the Birheng Nakaupo, the Festejada Image lovingly known as La Gloriosa. Reserved for the parish's annual fiesta celebrations in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, she beautifully portrays the Blessed Mother enthroned in heavenly glory after her Assumption. Though the original ivory head and hands were tragically desecrated in 1990 and later replaced, La Gloriosa continues to inspire countless devotees who gather each year to celebrate the triumph of the Blessed Virgin and to entrust their lives to her maternal intercession.

Together, the Birheng Matanda, Birheng Nakatayo, and Birheng Nakaupo (La Gloriosa) stand as enduring symbols of Maragondon's rich ecclesiastical heritage and profound Marian devotion. Through these sacred images, generations have experienced the loving presence of the Blessed Mother, who continually leads her children to her Son, Jesus Christ.

O San Tarcisio!

Amen.

Panalangin mula sa Nobena kay San Tarcisio.
