BEHEADED BUT NOT SILENCED.

On October 9, the Church commemorates Saint Denis of Paris, a third-century bishop who is called upon for protection against demonic possession and headaches. Renowned for his preaching prowess, he successfully converted thousands to Christianity, provoking the ire of the Roman governor who ultimately ordered his arrest and ex*****on by beheading. Remarkably, after his ex*****on, Saint Denis is said to have picked up his severed head and walked several miles, continuing to preach a sermon as he went! This astonishing narrative is just the beginning of an even more astounding tale connected to his legacy.

Tuesday pa lang pero pagod ka na. Pansin mo ba?

And you'll end up realizing, hindi physical na katawan ang pagod sayo.

Continue to pray the Holy Rosary!

6 FRANCISCAN SAINTS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Everyone knows St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua. They are some of the famous saints. Most people know St. Clare, that she was associated with St. Francis. St. Padre Pio is also one of the famous saints after being canonized over a decade ago.

Many great saints besides St. Francis, St. Clare, St. Anthony of Padua, and St. Padre Pio have come from the Order.

Here are 6 Franciscan Saints you should know about:

1. St. Bonaventure
- One the greatest medieval theologians and philosophers, ranking with Thomas Aquinas himself, his writings are one of the greatest treasures of Church Theology. He was made a Doctor of the Church, and is known as the Seraphic Doctor.

2. St. Joseph of Cupertino
- He was not educated or, frankly, very smart. He was known as very slow-witted and couldn’t learn a trade because of his deficiencies. But beginning as a young child, he saw visions and had ecstasies. His most famous being that he would levitate – sometimes even during Mass. Ironically, being that he was unintelligent, he is the patron saint of students taking tests.

3. St. Thomas More
- The Lord Chancellor of England and martyr, who famously confronted King Henry VIII about the King’s divorce, was a member of the Third Order of the Franciscans. He is the patron saint of lawyers and politicians.

4. St. Roch
- Born into a wealthy family, he gave his inheritance to the poor and joined the Franciscans and cared for victims of the plague. He was born with a reddish cross birthmark on his chest that grew proportionately with him as he aged. He was once falsely accused of being a spy and imprisoned and died in jail. He is the patron saint of dogs and the falsely accused.

5. Blessed John Duns Scotus
- One of the most influential Franciscans through the centuries. Born at Duns in the county of Berwick, Scotland, John was descended from a wealthy farming family. He was the one who presented a systematic theology of the Marian privilege of the Immaculate Conception, which the Catholic Church officially proclaimed as a Dogma of Faith in the Apostolic Constitution Ineffabilis Deus of Pope Pius IX.

6. St. Maximilian Kolbe
- St. Maximilian Kolbe was born as Raymund Kolbe on January 8, 1894, in the Kingdom of Poland, part of the Russian Empire. He was a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar and a martyr in the German death Camp of Auschwitz during World War II. He was very active in promoting the Immaculate Virgin Mary and is known as the Apostle of Consecration to Mary. Much of his life was strongly influenced by a vision he had of the Virgin Mary when he was 12. He organized the Militia Immaculata (Army of the Immaculate One) after witnessing demonstrations against Pope St. Pius X and Benedict XV. His goal was to work for the conversion of sinners and enemies of the Church, specifically, the Freemasons and he would so with the intercession of Mary.

This is just a shortlist of 6 Franciscan saints. There are many others.

𝘼𝙉𝙊 𝘼𝙉𝙂 𝙋𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙂𝙆𝘼𝙄𝘽𝘼: ANTING ANTING AT SAKRAMENTAL

"Being clothed in Scapular works as sacramental signs of our belongingness to Our Lady and faithfulness to Jesus."

Sacramentals are certain pious practices or objects blessed by the Church. The blessing is attached that these may serve to increase the devotion of the faithful. One of the examples is the scapular. Scapular

However, Catechism of the Catholic Church explains that 'Sacramentals do not confer the grace of the Holy Spirit in the way that the sacraments do, but by the Church’s prayer, they prepare us to receive grace and dispose us to cooperate with it.' (1670).

What this means is that a sacramental such as the brown scapular can dispose us to the graces God wants to give us, but we must respond to the invitation. Sacramentals are conduits of grace that only work if our end doesn’t have a cap on it.

CCC 1667 “Holy Mother Church has, moreover, instituted sacramentals. These are 24 sacred signs which bear a resemblance to the sacraments. They signify effects, particularly of a spiritual nature, which are obtained through the intercession of the Church. By them men are disposed to receive the chief effect of the sacraments, and various occasions in life are rendered holy.”

Always remember that everytime you put on a sacramental, or own one like the brown scapular, open your heart to God’s graces and Mary’s intercession. She wants to lead you to Heaven, but you can’t take the back seat and let her do all the work.

: THE BROWN SCAPULAR

The Brown Scapular is likely the earliest form of the devotional scapular. It may even be referred to merely as “the scapular,” where all other scapulae are referred to in the full name or by some distinguishing characteristic. Along the same line, the phrase “The Feast of the Scapular” refers to the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Pious tradition holds that the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Simon Stock on 16 July 1251 in England, with a scapular in her hand and said to him,“Take, beloved son this scapular of thy order as a badge of my confraternity and for thee and all Carmelites a special sign of grace; whoever dies in this garment, will not suffer everlasting fire. It is the sign of salvation, a safeguard in dangers, a pledge of peace and of the covenant.” According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, these precise words of Our Lady only appeared in written form in 1642, in a document that said these words had been dictated by Simon to his secretary and confessor. Historical documents cannot support the exact details or words, but the content is held to be reliable. That is to say, it is credible that Our Lady assured St. Simon Stock in a supernatural manner of her special protection over his whole order and all who would wear the Carmelite habit, indirectly extending to all Christian faithful who should wear the scapular as a badge of devotion, even if we cannot place the exact words.

Ordinary Time na ulit, mga bok at 'ter!

Did you know, in the ordinary form of the Roman Rite, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which ordinarily occurs on the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord (2 January), begins Ordinary Time and closes the Season of Christmas. While the long green season following Pentecost is known as the Time after Pentecost or Ordinary Time. This is standard, normal, typical time. It lasts until the First Sunday in Advent. It is the time of the church; time to focus on getting about Gospel, mission and service

Remember to be HOLY even if the time is ORDINARY, because HOLINESS is not only limited during Lent and Easter, it is to be observed everytime.

The term ordinary in English most often means something that's not special or distinctive, many people think that Ordinary Time refers to parts of the calendar of the Catholic Church that are unimportant. Even though the season of Ordinary Time makes up most of the liturgical year in the Catholic Church, the fact that Ordinary Time refers to those periods that fall outside of the major liturgical seasons reinforces this impression. Yet Ordinary Time is far from unimportant or uninteresting.

Why Is Ordinary Time Called Ordinary?

Ordinary Time is called "ordinary" not because it is common but simply because the weeks of Ordinary Time are numbered. The Latin word ordinalis, which refers to numbers in a series, stems from the Latin word ordo, from which we get the English word order. Thus, the numbered weeks of Ordinary Time, in fact, represent the ordered life of the Church—the period in which we live our lives neither in feasting (as in the Christmas and Easter seasons) or in more severe penance (as in Advent and Lent), but in watchfulness and expectation of the Second Coming of Christ.

It's appropriate, therefore, that the Gospel for the Second Sunday of Ordinary Time (which is actually the first Sunday celebrated in Ordinary Time) always features either John the Baptist's acknowledgment of Christ as the Lamb of God or Christ's first miracle—the transformation of water into wine at the wedding at Cana.

Thus for Catholics, Ordinary Time is the part of the year in which Christ, the Lamb of God, walks among us and transforms our lives. There's nothing "ordinary" about that!
