There are seasons when the waves feel stronger than our faith. Peter knew the storm was real, yet he still prayed, “Lord, if it is You, tell me to come to You on the water.” Yes, Peter began to sink, but it was not failure that defined him, it was grace. Grace that he still had breath enough to cry, “Lord, save me,” and immediately Jesus stretched out His hand. This reminds us that faith is not pretending the waves do not exist, it is choosing to step toward Jesus despite them. Faith is knowing our God is just one voice away, never too far, never too late, and never lacking in power to save. In every season of life, His right hand continually reaches for anyone who calls upon His name.
Jesus did not condemn Peter for having “little faith.” He revealed that true faith is steadfast faith; faith that keeps looking to Him, waits for Him, and endures until He comes. Even when our faith feels weak in the middle of storms, the strength is not found in us; it is found in the Savior who holds us. And while we continue walking by faith, we learn to trust not only His hand, but also His timing. God’s timing is always perfect. He answers in His time, beautifully. He is faithful through every delay, every waiting season, and every unanswered question. In the waiting, we worship. While the winds persist, we keep walking in obedience. While the waves arise, we keep looking unto Him. While the footholds shake, we continue trusting that His thoughts are higher and His plans are greater. Nothing is over until Jesus says so.
